Summary

About the Position: About the Position: This position will be filled using the Direct Hiring Authority (DHA) for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) & Major Range and Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) in Department of Defense (DoD).

Duties

  • Outline or discuss possible problem areas and defines objectives, plans, priorities, and deadlines; and provides assistance on controversial or unusual situations with no clear precedents.
  • Collect and analyze engineering data and makes sound engineering decisions or compromises for the purpose of operating, optimizing, adjusting, correcting, designing, improving, pollution control, and wastewater treatment.
  • Apply a diversified and integrated knowledge of mechanical, electrical, electronic, chemical, and industrial engineering technology, principles, and practices.
  • Perform a variety of work relating to the area of specialization that requires the application of a considerable number of different basic but established methods, procedures, and techniques.
  • Responsible for the design, operation, maintenance, modification, test, and improvement of industrial facilities, equipment, devices, operations, and processes, some problematic and prototypical in nature.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience GS-09: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-08 level which includes: 1) Applying engineering principles to assist in the operation and/or maintenance of electro-mechanical systems; 2) Troubleshooting technical problems in electro-mechanical equipment to develop corrective actions; AND 3) Interpreting technical specifications to make modifications of supported equipment.. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08). OR Education: I have successfully completed two years or (i.e., 27 semester hours) of graduate level education or a master's degree in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as electrician or electrical engineering tech. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Specialized Experience: I have the specialized experience as described in A, but less than one year; and I have more than one year but less than the required education in B. I have computed the percentage of the requirements that I meet, and the total is at least 100% (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement. Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government interest.
