Schedule: Full-Time, Exempt. Standard Monday-Friday business hours.

Purpose Statement/Position Summary: The Clinical Lab Manager has direct responsibility for the management and supervision of a Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Division(s). In this capacity, the Manager is responsible for the organization of work, supervision of employees, staff development, expense control, quality assurance, process improvement, and problem solving in the delivery of services and related programs within the division with sensitivity and attention to age and developmental issues of the patient population(s) served. The Manager, Clinical Laboratory will lead 24/7 core laboratory operations, ensuring timely and accurate testing results that support critical patient care across the ICU, Emergency Department, and Operating Room. This role is essential for maintaining regulatory compliance, quality standards, staff oversight, and operational continuity, making backfill critical to sustaining patient safety and high-performing laboratory services.

Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience Required:

  • 5+ years of experience in clinical laboratory services.

  • Excellent knowledge of regulatory requirements and quality assurance procedures.

  • Demonstrated fiscal management capabilities including effective expense reduction, utilization management, and budget control.

  • Proven personnel management strength includes demonstrated ability to select, motivate, develop, teach, evaluate performance, discipline, and promote collaborative team efforts.

Preferred:

  • Supervisory and/or managerial experience preferred.

Education/Licensure/Certification Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a clinical lab science, medical technology or related science required.

  • A valid California Clinical Laboratory Scientist license, limited license in area of responsibility as required by scope of practice.

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree preferred in natural science, clinical lab science, medical technology, education, business administration, public health administration, hospital administration, management, health care administration, compliance officer certification or a comparable level of education and experience.

Pay Scale Information

$146,182.40-$198,793.92

Final determination of a successful candidate’s starting pay will vary based on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, education and experience within the job or the industry. The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates who meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this specific job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates who exceed these specified qualifications and requirements.
