Full job description

Description We are looking for an experienced Sr. Tax Accountant to join a growing public accounting team in Roseland, New Jersey. This position is well suited for a detail-oriented tax accountant who enjoys balancing technical tax work with direct client interaction in a fast-moving, service-oriented environment. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to compliance, planning, and advisory engagements while partnering with colleagues across the firm to deliver thoughtful, accurate results.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and examine federal, state, and local tax filings for a range of business clients, ensuring accuracy and timely completion.

  • Perform tax research on complex issues and develop clear written summaries to support recommendations and client deliverables.

  • Contribute to tax planning initiatives and year-round compliance projects spanning multiple industries and entity structures.

  • Build strong working relationships with clients by providing timely communication, dependable follow-through, and high-quality service.

  • Oversee competing priorities across several engagements while meeting deadlines in a deadline-driven public accounting setting.

  • Partner with internal colleagues to assess tax matters, resolve issues, and provide practical guidance tailored to client needs.

  • Use tax preparation and research technology to complete returns, analysis, and other engagement-related work efficiently.

  • Identify opportunities to improve workflows and support initiatives that enhance team productivity and service quality. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a closely related field preferred.

  • CPA or progress toward certification preferred.

  • 3–5 years of tax experience within a public accounting environment.

  • Background in financial services taxation is a plus.

  • Demonstrated ability to conduct tax research and prepare detailed technical documentation.

  • Strong communication skills with a consistent client-service mindset.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

  • Experience with tax compliance and provision software such as GoSystems and related tax tools preferred.
