Full job description

Altana is the network for trusted trade. Our AI-powered product network empowers governments and businesses to build a more resilient and secure global economy while keeping trade flowing. The Opportunity at AltanaAltana's AI Deployment team gets our platform into production inside customers' businesses, taking each engagement from signed contract to realized value. As an AI Deployment Strategist, you'll shape what we deploy for each customer: you'll lead discovery with stakeholders from trade compliance analysts to operations leaders to enterprise IT, identify where Altana's platform and agentic AI will change outcomes, and design the solution that AI Deployment Engineers build and run. You'll be the customer's strategic counterpart on how AI fits their business, and you'll work closely with Altana's sales, customer success, engineering, machine learning, and product teams so that what we commit to is what we deliver. You Will Run discovery to map how each customer's work gets done today, assess their data, systems, and process maturity, and prioritize the use cases where Altana and agentic AI will change outcomes, based on customer value, feasibility, and data readiness. Design end-to-end agentic AI solutions (the workflows an agent owns, the decisions it supports, the data and systems of record it draws on, and where people stay in the loop) in enough detail for an AI Deployment Engineer to build against. Draft the prompts, system instructions, and evaluation criteria that define a good result, and prototype solution concepts on Altana's platform to validate an approach with the customer before engineering effort is committed. Write solution designs, requirements, workflow maps, and acceptance criteria, hand off cleanly to AI Deployment Engineers, and stay engaged through build, validation, and go-live as the owner of the solution's intent. Define measurable success for each engagement (adoption, decision quality, time saved, risk reduced), drive adoption through training and enablement, and build the business case for expansion into the next workflows. Partner with sales and customer success on scoping new and expanding engagements, feed field learning back to product, and build reusable solution patterns, discovery guides, and templates. You Have 5+ years in customer-facing solutioning or advisory roles, such as solutions consulting, solution architecture, sales engineering, technical consulting, product management, or implementation with design-level scope. A track record of turning ambiguous customer problems into delivered solutions with external stakeholders on real deadlines with real consequences. Strong communication and facilitation skills: you can run a discovery workshop with operators, present a solution to an executive, and walk an engineer through the design, all in the same day. Product instincts and structured thinking: you ask what problem a request solves, look for the smallest thing that solves it, and make progress with partial information. A bias toward repeatable solutions; you look for the pattern behind each customer request. A strong working understanding of agentic AI systems (LLM-powered agents, tool and function calling, retrieval-augmented generation, and human-in-the-loop design) and where they succeed or fail in practice. Hands-on skill with prompt design and evaluation: you can write prompts and evaluation criteria, diagnose why an agent's output falls short, and describe what would fix it. Comfort with SQL for exploring and validating data, and the ability to read API documentation (REST, Swagger/OpenAPI) and data models well enough to design and scope integrations with engineers. Daily, practical use of AI tools such as Claude, Claude Code, or Cursor, and enough understanding of data pipelines, cloud-hosted systems, and ML systems to judge feasibility. You do not need to write production code. This role can be based in either our Brooklyn, NY or Washington D.C. Hub locations with hybrid
