Job Description

Insight Global is assisting a client in finding a BIM/CAD Architect for an opportunity to build a next-generation BIM/CAD platform strategy and is seeking a BIM/CAD Application Architect to lead the evolution of how building and engineering data flows across design tools, engineering systems, and construction technology platforms. This role will serve as the bridge between BIM operations, software development, data architecture, and emerging AI technologies. The ideal candidate understands not only how BIM models are created, but also how data should be standardized, governed, translated, automated, and consumed across an enterprise ecosystem. You will help define the future of BIM workflows by eliminating manual processes, improving interoperability between systems, establishing data governance standards, and evaluating AI-driven capabilities that enhance design and construction workflows.

What You'll Do BIM/CAD Architecture & Standards

  • Establish and govern BIM/CAD standards across Revit, AutoCAD, IFC, DWG/DXF, and related platforms

  • Define modeling standards, naming conventions, metadata structures, coordinate systems, and family/parameter requirements

  • Create scalable frameworks that ensure BIM data is consistently consumed across engineering, design, quoting, and construction workflows

  • Develop standards and best practices that improve data quality and enable enterprise-wide adoption Workflow Automation & Interoperability

  • Analyze existing BIM workflows and identify opportunities for automation and process improvement

  • Design and implement solutions that automate repetitive modeling, mapping, and data translation activities

  • Develop and improve integrations between Revit, AutoCAD, IFC models, internal applications, and downstream systems

  • Leverage Revit APIs and software development practices to create streamlined user experiences and automated workflows

  • Eliminate manual rework and improve the reliability of model import/export processes Data Modeling, Mapping & Governance

  • Architect solutions for managing BIM metadata, model lineage, versioning, and lifecycle governance

  • Define how customer project models and drawings are translated into standardized data structures

  • Create frameworks for model intake, validation, approval, publishing, and reuse

  • Ensure accurate mapping of customer designs to internal products, engineering systems, and quoting processes

  • Improve interoperability between BIM authoring tools and downstream business applications AI & Digital Construction Innovation

  • Evaluate AI and machine learning capabilities that improve BIM workflows and design processes

  • Identify opportunities for automated quality control, metadata extraction, model validation, and workflow optimization

  • Partner with software engineering and data teams to integrate AI capabilities into future BIM and digital construction solutions

  • Explore emerging technologies including digital twins, computer vision, generative AI, and predictive modeling Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Collaborate with software engineers, architects, product managers, UX teams, BIM specialists, and global stakeholders

  • Translate BIM and CAD requirements into technical specifications for development teams

  • Create standards, training materials, governance processes, and implementation playbooks

  • Serve as the subject matter expert for BIM/CAD workflows and platform strategy

Skills and Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree ideally in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
  • 6+ years of experience leading BIM initiatives or BIM technology programs
  • Advanced expertise with Revit and AutoCAD
  • Strong understanding of BIM standards, interoperability, and model management
  • Experience working with IFC, DWG/DXF, and other industry-standard file formats
  • Experience automating workflows, extracting data, and improving BIM operational processes
  • Software development experience, preferably with C# but flex on language
  • Experience working with APIs, integrations, or software-enabled BIM workflows
  • Experience defining standards, governance frameworks, and data quality processes
  • Experience evaluating or implementing AI/ML capabilities within BIM environments
  • Revit API development experience
  • Experience building custom BIM applications or integrations
  • Understanding of BIM-to-Field and model-to-construction workflows
  • Experience with model-driven engineering solutions
  • Knowledge of cloud technologies and enterprise software platforms
  • Familiarity with computer vision, digital twins, MLOps, or data engineering concepts
  • Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP) or support systems experience
