Summary

About the Position: This position is located at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Director for Quality, supporting the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) at Bethesda, Maryland. Hours of operation: 0730 - 1600, Monday thru Friday This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duties

  • Conduct in-depth program analysis of substantial scale and impact concerning all aspects to ensure compliance with established practices.
  • Optimize Healthcare System programs by identifying, analyzing, and documenting issues, patterns, and trends affecting clinic operations.
  • Advise organizational policy makers on the relevant technical and regulatory issues related to the Healthcare System.
  • Extract programmatic data using management information systems to advise leadership on fiscal and strategic planning.
  • Forecast operational trends to develop alternative courses of action for strategic planning.
  • Implement program adjustments to mitigate operational shortages and improve clinical efficiency.
  • Direct access to care and referral management programs to optimize organizational resource allocation.
  • Manages appointment scheduling and clinical capacity to meet patient demand and minimize network deferrals.
  • Evaluate clinical activity reports to improve medical product line performance.
  • Advise leadership on healthcare delivery systems to support strategic command missions.
  • Manage the preparation of the annual budget determining whether requests for funds and expenditures are proper, justified, and timely.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes analyzing and advising on Healthcare System issues and policies; identifying administrative program issues and recommending solutions; monitoring/coordinating personnel matters for a clinic or Medical Treatment Facility; and providing budgetary input/recommendations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement.
