Full job description

JOB SUMMARY

Under the direct supervision of the Quality Director, the Quality In-Process Inspector is responsible for assuring production parts are inspected by the machine operators in compliance with the frequency and methods determined by the IPR and the Quality Team. This is accomplished by travelling throughout the shop and working closely with the machine operators, supervisors, and plant manager to assure that the customer quality requirements are met.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Essential functions of this job include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Promote and support the requirements and principles of the Precise Quality Management System and AS9100.

  • Auditing of all jobs currently running on the shop floor to assure that all IPRs and QCRs are completed by the machinists as required per the job traveler and customer requirements.

  • The ability to assist the machinist with the measurement of parts per the QCR and IPR.

  • Understanding of measurement equipment used to verify parts are meeting the quality requirements / drawings.

  • Ability to run pre-programmed parts on the CMM for auditing purposes.

  • High level of integrity to be the “voice of the customer”.

  • Visual inspection of machined parts to customer requirements (deburred properly).

  • Communicate with all departments pertaining to quality issues.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Basic understanding of the AS9100D Quality Management System.

  • Attention to detail is required.

  • Basic blueprint reading and understanding of work instructions per job requirements.

  • Use of standard Quality measurement tools such as calipers, micrometer, and dial indicators.

  • Communication skills are of an up most importance. Being able to communicate inspection results effectively is a must for this position.

  • Above average math skills a plus.

  • Understanding of work instructions.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience working in Quality preferred.

  • Machining experience a plus.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the metal industry and or parts manufacturing industry preferred.

According to the New York Pay Transparency law, pay range for this job is $20.00 - $29.00 / hour. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
