Description

We are seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to support product development, manufacturing, and supplier quality initiatives while driving continuous improvement efforts throughout the organization. This position plays a key role in ensuring products meet customer, regulatory, and internal quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the CAPA Chairperson, leading root cause investigations and corrective/preventive action activities to eliminate recurring nonconformances.

  • Act as the lead Quality Engineer for a new vehicle product line.

  • Partner with design engineering teams to ensure quality requirements are incorporated early in the product development lifecycle.

  • Identify, document, and resolve product, process, and quality system issues.

  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering to ensure production routings contain proper quality controls and inspection requirements.

  • Support supplier audits and assessments to verify compliance, drive standardization, eliminate waste, and promote continuous improvement.

  • Travel to supplier and subcontractor locations as needed to clarify quality requirements, conduct quality risk assessments, and resolve supplier quality issues.

  • Assist in evaluating supplier technical concerns and ensuring continuity of supply that meets technical and quality requirements.

  • Work cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and program teams to maintain a robust quality management program.

  • Monitor, communicate, and improve key quality performance metrics and KPIs.

  • Establish and execute short- and long-term product quality goals.

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, process capability studies, value stream mapping, and process analyses.

  • Support new product introductions, design updates, disposition activities, and nonconforming material processes.

Position Overview

The Quality Engineer develops, implements, and maintains quality systems, processes, and controls to ensure products meet customer expectations and regulatory requirements. This role collaborates closely with engineering, manufacturing, laboratory, and supplier quality teams to establish inspection methods, testing procedures, acceptance criteria, and risk mitigation strategies.

Responsibilities include designing and analyzing inspection processes, conducting quality audits and assessments, performing statistical analyses, supporting corrective actions, ensuring compliance with quality standards, and driving operational excellence through continuous improvement initiatives.

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, or a related technical field with 5+ years of relevant experience, OR

  • Master's degree with 3+ years of relevant experience, OR

  • High School Diploma/GED with 9+ years of relevant experience.

  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.

  • Willingness to travel up to 30%.

  • Experience in shipyard construction, marine manufacturing, or quality oversight of vessel fabrication.

  • Ability to travel to supplier, subcontractor, and alternate facility locations as needed.

Preferred

  • Weld inspection experience or certification (CWI preferred).

  • Experience working in U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) or American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) regulated environments.

  • Experience supporting naval, marine, defense, aerospace, or other highly regulated manufacturing industries.

  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, AS9100, or similar quality management systems.

  • Experience applying Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or other continuous improvement methodologies.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $43.26 - $55.28/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
