This role in summary

Please submit a resume to be considered for this role.

The MTA Trainer plays a critical role in setting standards for operational excellence, safety, and quality across the manufacturing facility. Serving as a bridge between foundational instruction and shop-floor execution, the MTA Trainer is responsible for delivering structured, hands-on training to new hires and existing operators. This role requires active floor engagement, rigorous adherence to standardized processes, structured problem-solving, and continuous mentorship to build high-performing production teams.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Maintain full presence and direct engagement on the floor during all training sessions.

  • Eliminate personal distractions (e.g., non-essential mobile phone usage) to ensure 100% focus on trainee safety, technique, and form.

  • Actively observe trainees during operation to detect improper habits, ergonomic risks, or procedural variations immediately.

  • Reinforce that operator learning and development is a top plant priority through direct feedback and regular presence.

  • Utilize The Way To Teach People (TWTTP) framework and forms to evaluate operator understanding across competence, management support, precaution/attention, and attitude.

  • Ensure strict compliance with visual Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) —utilizing guides that are heavily image-driven (≥80% visual format)—and verify comprehension using One Point Lessons (OPLs) .

  • Leverage modern skill-building tools including the Manufacturing Training System (MTS) for simulated technique practice and the 2-Video Method (side-by-side comparison of correct vs. incorrect form).

  • Coach operators to recognize and self-correct unsafe behaviors, driving a plant culture centered on zero safety incidents.

  • Investigate human error and operational defects by focusing on underlying "why" factors rather than surface symptoms.

  • Apply standard problem-solving methodologies, including 5 Why's analysis and 5W + 1H (What, When, Where, Who, Why, How), to identify root causes and implement effective countermeasures.

  • Support Team Leaders and Safety teams in completing post-incident TWTTP reviews.

  • Guide operators through the 5 Levels of Operator Classification , creating tailored development plans to facilitate skill advancement.

  • Encourage operator involvement in plant Kaizen initiatives by teaching team members to spot defects, irregularities, or non-value-added steps and submit irregularity Tags .

  • Maintain line Visual Management tools (activity boards), ensuring metrics and training tracking tools are transparent, updated, and clear.

Minimum requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age

  • Must have a high school diploma or a GED

  • 6 months manufacturing experience

  • Ability to stand and walk continuously for an entire shift (8-12 hours). Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry materials up to 40 lbs frequently, and occasionally up to 50 lbs.

Preferred skills and experiences

  • Demonstrated mastery of On-the-Job Training (OJT) methods and visual standardization.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to deliver direct, constructive feedback.

  • Working knowledge of basic problem-solving tools (5 Why's, 5W+1H).

  • Ability to read, interpret, and teach visual SOPs and OPLs. Passion for mentoring team members, maintaining visual management systems, and driving continuous improvement across production lines.

Why should you apply?

  • Up to 80+ hours of paid training

  • Up to 120 hours of paid time off (prorated based on start date)

  • Medical, dental, vision, 401k, paid holidays, and other benefits available immediately

  • Quarterly bonus opportunities!

  • Tuition reimbursement

  • Apprenticeship Program(s)

  • Career growth opportunities and development
