Job Description

The selected candidate will support BAE Systems, Installation and Certification Branch in the administration of all functions of an Alteration Installation Team (AIT) supporting Air Traffic Control and Combat Systems Installations.

The selected candidate shall apply standard practices and techniques in electrical and mechanical disciplines in support of ongoing technical programs. Work will consist of supporting the installation and upgrades of Air Traffic Control and Combat System Identification systems on US Navy ships and shore facilities. Assigned work will include; review of ship installation drawings, removal/installation of system equipment and cabling, termination of copper and fiber optic cables and equipment/cable testing. Tasking will require working closely and communicating with BAE Systems personnel, subcontractors, and on-site Government customers.

BAE Systems wants people who are self-starters that work well independently as well as in team environments.

Will be required to travel up to 30% with majority of travel occurring inside the United States. Overtime is routinely required but not guaranteed.

The hourly rate for this position is set by the Dept of Labor and it not negotiable. Current rate is $29.66/hr

This position is located in the Chesapeake, VA. There is no monetary relocation assistance budgeted for this position. Applicants must be currently residing in or state willingness to relocate self to Chesapeake, VA or surrounding areas.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

High School Diploma and at least one year of electrical experience or formal electrical/electronic training

Ability to lift and carry objects up to 40 lbs.

Mechanical aptitude

Basic wiring skills

Ability and willingness to travel as required (approximately 30%)

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

More than one year of electrical experience

OSHA 10 Maritime training

Solder certification

Cable Fabrication Certification

Past military service

Pay Information

This position is covered by a wage law called the McNamara-O'Hara Service Contract Act (SCA). The wage range for this position is determined by the Wage and Hour Division of the Department of Labor on a contract-by-contract basis.
