Lead Technician – Operations & Maintenance
Location: MCO Airport
Compensation: $36.64/hour (approximately $76,211 annually)
Shift: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
Position Overview
An established airport transportation organization is seeking an experienced Lead Technician to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair automated people mover (APM) systems.
This position combines hands-on electromechanical maintenance with technical leadership responsibilities, including preventive and corrective maintenance, central control operations, equipment recovery, and technician training.
Key Responsibilities

Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical, mechanical, and electromechanical equipment.

Troubleshoot equipment failures using electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.

Utilize oscilloscopes, micrometers, calipers, and diagnostic instruments to identify and repair equipment malfunctions.

Support central control operations and perform automated vehicle recovery activities.

Coordinate maintenance activities to minimize equipment downtime and maintain system reliability.

Provide technical guidance, troubleshooting assistance, and hands-on training to maintenance technicians.

Review, document, and sign off on completed maintenance activities using maintenance management systems (CMMS/MMIS).

Assume supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the supervisor or engineer.

Maintain compliance with established safety procedures and airport operating requirements.
Required Qualifications
-
3–5 years of hands-on electromechanical maintenance experience.
-
Associate degree in Electronics or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
-
Strong electrical, mechanical, and electronic troubleshooting capabilities.

Experience performing preventive maintenance, equipment diagnostics, and repairs.

Ability to interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.

Experience using precision measuring and diagnostic equipment, including oscilloscopes, micrometers, and analyzers.

Ability to independently troubleshoot equipment failures and provide technical direction to other technicians.

Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.

Ability to obtain and maintain airport security clearance and meet applicable pre-employment screening requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Experience maintaining automated people mover (APM) systems, rail transit equipment, or automated transportation systems.

Previous experience as a Lead Technician, Senior Technician, or Maintenance Team Lead.

Technical certification in Aviation, Automotive, Electronics, or Electromechanical Technology.

Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS/MMIS).

Familiarity with central control operations and automated vehicle recovery procedures.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
-
Ability to stand, walk, climb, kneel, and work around moving mechanical and electrical equipment.

Ability to frequently lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally assist with lifting up to 50 pounds.

Comfortable working in an airport maintenance environment with varying temperatures, noise levels, and exposure to electrical and mechanical equipment.

Ability to meet the vision and physical requirements associated with safety-sensitive maintenance activities, with reasonable accommodations where applicable.
Pay Details: $36.64 per hour
