Job Title: Install / Construction Technician Job Description
This role involves travelling to multiple forecourt retail sites across Northern Ohio, Southern Michigan, Western Pennsylvania and West Virginia to complete construction and installation work for new and refurbished stores. You will install and set up a variety of equipment and fixtures, including ductwork, cooler boxes, refrigeration units, food service equipment, shelving and decorative features, ensuring each location is ready for safe and efficient operation. The position typically operates Monday to Thursday with early starts and long days, with potential Friday work during busy periods.
Responsibilities

Travel to retail sites across Northern Ohio, Southern Michigan, Western Pennsylvania and West Virginia to complete construction and installation tasks.

Install ductwork and cooler boxes in accordance with specifications and safety standards.

Set up refrigeration units, soda machines and food service equipment that sits on counters.

Hang kitchen hoods and ensure correct positioning and secure installation.

Install decorative foam beams within stores to the required layout and finish.

Carry out cabinet work, including fitting and securing cabinets and worktops.

Install countertops and ensure they are level, secure and finished to a high standard.

Assemble and install shelving units and other store fixtures.

Work with piping, sheet metal and duct materials using appropriate tools and methods.

Use basic hand tools safely and effectively for a wide range of construction tasks.

Follow detailed instructions, timelines and project plans to complete work on schedule.

Work independently on assigned tasks while collaborating effectively as part of a travelling team.

Maintain a clean and organised work area and adhere to site safety procedures.

Lift and move materials and equipment weighing up to 50 lb as required for installations.
Essential Skills

Minimum of 2 years experience in facility maintenance or construction.

Proven mechanical aptitude and ability to work with piping, sheet metal and ductwork.

Confident use of basic hand tools for construction and installation work.

Ability to work independently while following instructions and project timelines.

Strong practical problem-solving skills and a jack of all trades mindset.

Team-oriented approach with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues.

Residence within approximately a 1-hour radius of Youngstown, Ohio to support travel requirements.

Ability to travel regularly to stores across Northern Ohio, Western Pennsylvania, Southern Michigan and West Virginia.

Capability to lift and handle items up to 50 lb safely.

Basic construction or facility maintenance experience as a foundation for the role.
Additional Skills & Qualifications

Previous experience in retail, forecourt or commercial fit-out environments is beneficial.

Familiarity with installing refrigeration, food service equipment or similar mechanical systems is an advantage.

Comfortable working long days with early starts during busy periods.

Good communication skills to coordinate tasks and report progress while on site.

Attention to detail to ensure fixtures and equipment are installed accurately and neatly.

Work Environment
You will work on the road, travelling to different retail stores across Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan and West Virginia to complete construction and installation tasks. The schedule typically runs Monday to Thursday with a 6:30 a.m. start and around 10-hour days, with possible Friday work during busy periods and overtime available. Work is hands-on and physical, involving regular use of hand tools and materials such as piping, sheet metal, ductwork, cabinetry and shelving in active construction environments. You will stay in hotels while working away from home, with accommodation provided, and receive a daily per diem to support travel. The setting is practical and site-based, requiring appropriate workwear suitable for construction activities and adherence to all on-site safety practices.

This is a Contract position based out of Maumee, OH.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $26.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
