Description

We are looking for an Operations Manager to oversee fabrication activities and keep production running efficiently at our Bethlehem, Pennsylvania facility. This role will guide daily shop operations, align output with delivery commitments, and work closely with cross-functional teams to maintain quality, safety, and cost performance. The ideal candidate brings strong manufacturing leadership, practical knowledge of sheet metal processes, and the ability to drive steady operational improvement.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day fabrication operations to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in line with production goals.

  • Build and manage production plans that support customer timelines, project milestones, and available shop capacity.

  • Monitor product quality throughout manufacturing and ensure finished work meets technical drawings, engineering standards, and customer expectations.

  • Partner with engineering and production personnel to troubleshoot manufacturing challenges and implement effective solutions.

  • Lead efforts to reduce scrap, defects, and rework by establishing corrective actions and preventive measures.

  • Evaluate production flow, address scheduling constraints, and remove operational bottlenecks that impact throughput.

  • Review performance data to identify trends, improve efficiency, and lower overall manufacturing costs.

  • Advance lean practices and continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen processes and shop performance.

  • Coordinate equipment upkeep, including preventive maintenance planning and recommendations for repairs, upgrades, or new machinery.

  • Supervise, coach, and develop shop employees while reinforcing accountability, teamwork, safety compliance, and clear communication on production status and resource needs.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in sheet metal fabrication or a similar manufacturing environment.

  • Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience managing or directing teams in a production setting.

  • Broad industry background with approximately 10 years of related experience preferred.

  • Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication methods, production equipment, and shop operations.

  • Ability to interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and manufacturing specifications accurately.

  • Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and problem-solving abilities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proven ability to balance multiple priorities while maintaining deadlines and operational quality.
