What You'll Be Doing

Job Scope: To prepare and maintain the P6 schedule to accurately reflect current status. Work with the Overhaul Manager to identify potential effects on shutdown duration.

Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Prepare P6 schedule using parameters supplied by Overhaul Contractor Manager.

  • Issue the baseline draft schedule by May 1.

  • Review shutdown and start up logic with relevant plant management.

  • Export all relevant activities from planning system.

  • Assist in the conduct of validation meetings to fine tune the schedule in accordance with the Overhaul Charter.

  • Prepare management monitoring graphs to be used during the shutdown.

  • Issue 3-day look ahead to all area managers and craft general foremen.

  • Chair daily update meetings to gather data from area managers to maintain an accurate schedule.

  • Input all SCR work into the schedule.

  • Notify the Overhaul Manager of any slippage in the schedule.

  • Use the histograms to determine the lay-off strategy for each trade and provide this information to the Overhaul Contractor Manager.

Ideal Background

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Construction Science, Building Science or related field is highly preferred.

Certification: AACE International or Project Management Institute (PMI) certification is preferred.

Experience: This position requires 5+ years of relevant industrial experience in planning, scheduling, cost control and estimating.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Knowledge and application of company business standards and good practices.

  • Extreme attention to detail.

  • Possesses a comprehensive understanding of the function of all engineering disciplines.

  • Understanding of existing and potential customer deliverable expectations and preferences.

  • Ability to set priorities.

  • Ability to effectively discuss and correspond with engineering disciplines and/or contractors to ascertain and understand pertinent information concerning schedules, scopes of work, estimates and/or project costs.

  • Coaching and mentoring skills and experience.

  • Excellent listening and communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Excellent presentation skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills.

  • Knowledge of other disciplines deliverable development to ensure coordination of efforts.

  • Knowledge and understanding of schedule constraints and information requirements for the production of all project controls deliverables.

  • Experienced in scheduling professional service hours and assessing the progress and quality of project controls work. Ability to accurately estimate completion of assigned tasks.

  • Proficient in the use of Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project scheduling software.

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, stand or walk for long periods of time.

Other:

Per-diem at the going GSA rate is offered to those who qualify and can be discussed.
