Payroll Supervisor/Manager/Director

Description We are looking for an experienced payroll leader to oversee payroll operations for a high-volume workforce in Edina, Minnesota. This position is well suited for someone who can manage end-to-end payroll processes, maintain compliance across multiple jurisdictions, and support both union and non-union payroll needs. The ideal candidate brings strong technical knowledge, sound judgment, and the ability to guide an efficient and accurate payroll function.

Responsibilities:

• Direct daily payroll operations for a large employee population, ensuring timely and accurate processing from start to finish.

• Lead payroll activities across multiple states while maintaining compliance with tax, wage, and regulatory requirements.

• Administer union payroll procedures, including contract-driven earnings, deductions, and related reporting obligations.

• Prepare and review certified payroll reports when required, with a focus on accuracy and deadline adherence.

• Supervise payroll staff, establish priorities, and strengthen department performance through training and process oversight.

• Manage payroll systems such as ADP Workforce Now and UKG Pro to support efficient processing and reliable recordkeeping.

• Partner with internal teams to resolve payroll discrepancies, respond to employee questions, and improve service levels.

• Monitor audits, reconciliations, and documentation practices to reduce risk and support internal and external compliance reviews. Requirements • At least 5 years of progressive payroll experience, including full-cycle payroll ownership.

• Demonstrated experience processing payroll in multiple states for a large workforce environment.

• Working knowledge of union payroll practices; construction industry exposure is strongly valued.

• Familiarity with certified payroll reporting and related compliance standards is preferred.

• Hands-on experience with ADP Workforce Now, UKG Pro, or comparable payroll platforms.

• Strong understanding of payroll laws, taxes, deductions, reconciliations, and reporting requirements.

• Degree in a related field or payroll certification is preferred, but not mandatory.
