Job Title: Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber

Reports To: Director of Crisis and Stabilization Services / Director of Community Recovery Services

Type of Position: Contractor

FLSA Status: Exempt

Schedule: Minimum of 20 hours per week

POSITION SUMMARY

As a Psychiatric Prescribing Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner (APNP) at KHDS' Sunrise Clinic, you will be at the forefront of mental health care, providing comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, diagnosing mental health conditions, and prescribing appropriate medications. This contracted position allows you to make a profound impact on the mental well-being of our patients, working within a supportive and multidisciplinary team environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Conduct Psychiatric Evaluations: Perform comprehensive psychiatric assessments, including patient interviews, mental status examinations, and diagnostic testing.

  2. Diagnose Mental Health Conditions: Identify and diagnose a range of psychiatric disorders, including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and other mental health conditions.

  3. Prescribe Medications: Develop and implement treatment plans, including prescribing psychotropic medications and monitoring their effectiveness and side effects.

  4. Collaborate with Healthcare Team: Work closely with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.

  5. Patient Education: Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, medication management, and coping strategies.

  6. Maintain Patient Records: Keep accurate and up-to-date medical records, including treatment plans, progress notes, and medication logs.

  7. Crisis Intervention: Provide crisis intervention and management for patients experiencing acute psychiatric episodes.

  8. Participate in Quality Improvement: Engage in quality improvement initiatives, research, and continuing education with best practices in psychiatric care.

  9. Advocate for Patients: Advocate for the mental health needs of patients within the healthcare system and the community.

  1. Conduct oneself in a professional manner

a. Maintain the confidentiality and other rights of participants, families and staff and follow HIPPA Guidelines for all verbal and written communication

b. Problem-solve difficult situations in a timely manner

c. Manage difficult or emotional consumer situations by responding promptly to needs, requests for

assistance and services

d. Give, receive and act upon feedback from supervisors and co-workers in an appropriate manner

e. Maintain professional boundaries with consumers and co-workers at all times

f. Attend training as requested by supervisors

g. Other tasks as assigned by supervisors

QUALIFICATIONS: A Master's Degree (or higher) in Nursing with active Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber credential required.

  1. Actively enrolled in courses and working on Psychiatric Certificate as a minimum requirement

  2. Able to work with children and adults

  3. Experience in evaluating and treating adults with serious and persistent mental illness in either an outpatient or inpatient facility

  4. Ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbally, in the English language

  5. Must have reliable transportation and valid driver’s license with good driving record

  6. Must carry own auto insurance with at least 100,000/300,000/100,000 coverage

  7. Ability to maintain records and document case notes daily

  8. Ability to give and accept feedback as a part of a team

  9. Ability to traverse within the workspace and community frequently

  10. Be willing to learn and work with the treatment philosophies

  11. Bilingual in Spanish a plus
