Full job description

About Esper

Esper was founded in 2018 with the mission to empower dynamic and responsive policymaking in government. Esper’s goal is to align data, stakeholders, and public policy goals to streamline the policymaking process at all levels of Government. We imagine a world where policymaking is driven by data and insights from all stakeholders, and we are transforming traditional bureaucracy into a dynamic and flexible system that encourages innovation and collaboration.

Job description

Esper is the policy platform of choice for large enterprise government agencies.Over the past 8 years, Esper has built an incredible customer base with a sticky product and exceptional team to deliver transformation in the largest government agencies. We’re hiring a Head of Marketing to tell our story and grow our footprint in the market.

As Head of Marketing, you'll take a founder-led narrative and turn it into a category. You'll decide how Esper shows up everywhere, from a state CIO's inbox to a fire chief's LinkedIn feed to the stage at a NASCIO conference.

This is a builder role with a strategist's brain and a writer's ear. You'll work side by side with the CEO, partner tightly with Sales and Product, and lead a small but mighty marketing team.

What you'll do

• Positioning and messaging. Define how Esper is understood: the category, proof points, and competitive positioning. Build the messaging house for our ICP customers.

• Turn our core thesis into a point of view through thought leadership, executive content, research, and earned media.

• Brand and creative direction. Own the look, voice, and feel of Esper. Raise the bar on the website, sales materials, decks, and campaigns.

• Content engine. Build a content program with a clear editorial point of view: flagship pieces, customer stories, video, social, and the CEO's voice.

• Product marketing. Launches, competitive positioning, sales enablement, and the stories that help reps win.

• Marketing vision and plan. Set and execute on the annual strategy, budget, and goals.

• Team leadership. Lead and grow the marketing team, including our demand gen and sales development function, plus agencies and freelancers.

What we’re looking for

• 8+ years in B2B marketing, with 3+ years leading marketing or product marketing at a high-growth company.

• You've built positioning from scratch and seen it change how a market talks about a company.

• You're a great writer. You can make a complex, technical product sound simple, urgent, and human.

• You have strong creative taste and can direct designers, agencies, and video without micromanaging.

• You are comfortable and enjoy operating at both the strategic and tactical level.

• You understand pipeline and how marketing contributes to it. While you don't run demand gen day to day, you know how brand and narrative fuel it.

Location

• This is an Austin, TX based role with the expectation of working at least 3 days/week from our HQ

Compensation

• Annual salary + other performance-based incentives

Perks and Benefits

• Being part of an innovative and collaborative team that will both support and challenge you

• Significant opportunity for growth and ownership and to shape Esper for the long-term

• Competitive salary and equity at a growing company

• Paid holidays & unlimited PTO

• Medical, dental, and vision insurance

• Generous parental & sick leave

• 401(k) retirement plan with employer match

• Short- and long-term disability & life insurance

• Flexible spending account (FSA)

• Work anniversary equity grants

• Monthly stipend to offset remote work expenses

• Office equipment allowance
