Job Title: Survey CAD Technician

Job Description

Join our dynamic team where you will play a crucial role in processing survey field data and converting it into precise office drafting. You will develop 3D models of subsurface utilities, grading, and infrastructure while ensuring constructability, ADA compliance, and utility conflict resolution. Collaborate with project managers and field teams to resolve discrepancies, and actively engage in continuous professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Process survey field data and convert it into accurate office drafting.

  • Develop 3D models of subsurface utilities, grading, and infrastructure.

  • Build theoretical models from design plans and compare them against as-built field data.

  • Perform clash detection to identify conflicts before construction issues occur.

  • Review plans for constructability, ADA compliance, and utility conflicts.

  • Prepare and maintain final as-built models and drawings.

  • Coordinate with project managers and field teams to resolve discrepancies before work goes to the field.

  • Post-process and analyze survey data using specialized software.

  • Prepare stakeout sketches, point files, and DXF files for construction stakeout needs.

  • Output accurate and professional As-Built Drawings.

  • Perform accurate volume calculations as needed.

  • Prepare accurate cut-sheets and sketches for a variety of field tasks.

  • Work collaboratively with team members to ensure project requirements are met.

  • Stay updated on industry standards, new surveying technologies, and best practices.

  • Actively promote and serve as a role model, setting the tone and reflecting the culture of the firm.

Essential Skills

  • Strong survey or civil design experience preferred over pure architectural BIM.

  • Experience translating field data to office drafting and coordinated models.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD for survey drafting and construction plans.

  • Strong preference for Trimble Business Center (TBC).

  • Experience with Revit for BIM modeling and 3D coordination.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Proficiencies in Civil 3D as an acceptable alternative to TBC in some cases.

  • Experience with Carlson / Topcon / Leica platforms (equipment dependent).

  • Familiarity with Bluebeam for review/redlines.

  • Drone data familiarity is preferred but not required.

Work Environment

This is an in-office role with the potential for hybrid flexibility once the candidate is comfortable with the processes and has established a standard operating rhythm. The office is comprised of about 30 team members, including surveyors, technicians, and administrative staff
