This opportunity resides with Warfare Systems (WS), a business group within HII’s Mission Technologies division. Warfare Systems comprises cyber and mission IT; electronic warfare; and C5ISR systems.

Job Description

HII – Mission Technologies is seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer to help design, build, and sustain modern software applications that power national broadband initiatives, advanced data analytics platforms, and critical telecommunications systems. In this role, you will work across engineering, data, and policy teams to deliver secure, scalable, mission-driven solutions that strengthen digital equity and communications infrastructure across the United States.

This role is located in Annapolis Junction, MD and offers a hybrid work model, typically requiring onsite presence 2–3 days per week to support collaboration and mission‑critical work.

Essential Job Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, test, and deploy high‑quality software solutions supporting national telecommunications and broadband objectives.\

• Partner closely with product, data, and policy teams to turn complex requirements into clear, implementable technical designs.

• Implement modern, secure coding practices and ensure compliance with federal cybersecurity standards.

• Enhance and maintain existing applications through upgrades, performance tuning, and lifecycle support.

• Participate in architecture discussions, contribute to documentation, and share knowledge across the engineering organization.

Minimum Qualifications

• Level 3: 5 years relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or 3+ years with a Master’s degree.

• Level 4: 9 years relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or 7+ years with a Master’s degree.

• Proficiency in: Python, MATLAB, Rust, Unreal Engine, and Azure Cloud/Windows environments.

• Solid understanding of API development, RESTful services, and microservice architecture.

• Active SECRET security clearance required.

Preferred Requirements

• Experience working with federal agencies or in government-related programs.

Physical Requirements

Adequate visual acuity and manual dexterity for meeting the requirements Software Engineer family.
