Full job description

SKIMS is a solutions-oriented brand creating the next generation of underwear, loungewear, shapewear, and essentials. We are setting new standards by delivering technically innovative, comfort-driven products with elevated design for everybody.

At the intersection of culture, innovation, and commerce, SKIMS is a global brand redefining modern apparel. Our teams are built on creativity, collaboration, and operational excellence, and we are committed to fostering an inclusive, high-performance environment where ambitious, curious, and values-driven individuals can do the best work of their careers.

As we continue to scale globally, our HQ teams play a critical role in shaping strategy, building world-class infrastructure, and driving sustainable growth across markets.

Position Summary

SKIMS is seeking a Director of Inventory Operations to lead the strategy and execution of global inventory management and order management across our growing omnichannel business.

Reporting to the VP of Planning, this leader will be responsible for optimizing global inventory availability and productivity, from available-to-sell (ATS) governance through markdown, clearance, and end-of-life decisions, while overseeing the Order Management function to ensure accuracy and visibility from purchase order through receipt.

This is a critical role in building a more sophisticated, systems-enabled approach to inventory operations as SKIMS scales across categories, channels, stores, and international markets, including continued optimization opportunities as we mature our Oracle and demand forecasting capabilities.

We are looking for a strategic, highly analytical leader who can balance top-down inventory strategy with close partnership across Merchandise Planning, Commercial Planning, Merchandising, Retail, Digital, Supply Chain, and Finance. The ideal candidate brings deep inventory and order management expertise, strong systems fluency, and the ability to build scalable processes in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the global Inventory Operations organization, including Inventory Management and Order Management, through two direct-report Senior Managers.

  • Own global ATS (available-to-sell) governance, establishing the rules, logic, and guardrails that determine how inventory is made available for sale across channels and markets.

  • Develop and execute inventory optimization strategies that maximize sales, margin, availability, and productivity across categories, channels, and markets.

  • Establish clear inventory targets and coverage guardrails across categories, channels, stores, and markets, and drive efficiencies that reduce excess and stockout risk.

  • Own markdown, clearance, and end-of-life inventory strategy globally, balancing margin recovery with brand positioning.

  • Maintain visibility to inventory health, including weeks of supply, sell-through, availability, aging, and excess inventory, flagging risk and recommending action to senior leadership.

  • Oversee purchase order management processes to ensure accuracy and visibility across purchase orders, deliveries, receipts, changes, and cancellations.

  • Partner with Merchandise Planning to translate assortment and buy strategies into inventory positioning and ATS execution.

  • Partner with Commercial Planning to ensure inventory investments support channel, store, and market growth opportunities.

  • Partner with Technology and Systems teams to evolve inventory tools and capabilities, including continued optimization as Oracle and demand forecasting capabilities mature.

  • Establish clear KPIs and operating rhythms across inventory and order management, developing reporting and analytics that enable faster, more confident decision-making.

  • Build, develop, and lead a high-performing team, including the Senior Managers of Order Management and Inventory Management, as the function matures.

  • Drive process improvement, documentation, and standardization across inventory operations to support SKIMS' continued growth.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • 10+ years of experience in inventory management, inventory planning, order management, or a related discipline within a global retailer or consumer brand.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.

  • Proven track record of leading global inventory optimization and driving large-scale process transformation within a high-growth, omnichannel organization.

  • Significant experience managing inventory across an omnichannel environment, including retail and digital.

  • Strong understanding of ATS logic, inventory optimization, markdown/clearance strategy, and inventory lifecycle management.

  • Experience supporting a growing retail store fleet and/or international expansion strongly preferred.

  • Strong financial and analytical acumen with the ability to connect inventory decisions to sales, margin, and profitability.

  • Systems fluency, with experience in ERP/inventory platforms (Oracle experience a plus) and comfort partnering with Technology teams on system optimization.

  • Experience building or evolving inventory operations capabilities within a high-growth organization.

  • Strong cross-functional leadership skills and ability to influence senior stakeholders.

  • Strong people leadership skills, with experience developing managers and growing a team.

What You Bring

  • A strategic mindset with the ability to balance long-term inventory vision with near-term execution.

  • Strong commercial instincts and a bias toward using data to drive decisions.

  • A passion for building, with genuine excitement for establishing structure and process in a function that is still scaling.

  • Collaborative leadership style with a bias for action and results.

  • The ability to thrive in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment while managing competing priorities across channels, markets, and stakeholders.
