Full job description

Description

A well-established and growing organization is seeking a Controller to lead its accounting function and partner with senior leadership on financial performance, reporting, and process improvement. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing the month-end close process, managing day-to-day accounting operations, and supporting strategic business decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.

  • Prepare and review financial statements, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.

  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, cash management, and general ledger activities.

  • Monitor cash flow, working capital, and financial performance metrics.

  • Analyze financial results and provide insights to leadership.

  • Maintain and strengthen accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.

  • Coordinate year-end activities and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors.

  • Partner with operational leaders to improve reporting, processes, and overall business performance.

  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • CPA preferred but not required.

  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities.

  • Strong experience with financial reporting, month-end close, cash flow management, and internal controls.

  • Knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial statement preparation.

  • Experience within transportation, logistics, distribution, manufacturing, or other operationally focused industries is a plus.

  • Advanced Excel and accounting system proficiency.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
