Job Summary

Join OVHcloud and be part of creating the cloud of tomorrow. We empower people who want to grow, make their work stand out, and take ownership of dynamic, meaningful projects. You’ll enjoy autonomy in your work, strong support from management, and the freedom to explore new challenges—helping you make a tangible impact and shape the future of our cloud infrastructure alongside passionate, collaborative peers.

The Data Center IT Technician is responsible for ensuring the proper operation of hardware within the data center and supporting the deployment, maintenance, troubleshooting, upgrade, and optimization of server infrastructure. This role installs and removes servers, performs preventive and corrective maintenance, monitors equipment status, supports incident response, and escalates issues through resolution to maintain continuity of service. The position requires attention to quality, sustainability, and procedural compliance while working in a fast-paced data center environment where priorities may shift quickly based on operational and customer needs.

Base pay range: $30 per hour.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Install and remove servers from racks to fulfill customer orders efficiently, ensuring quality execution and adherence to required protocols at each stage, including server isolation, circuit verification, power-up, network configuration, and continuity of service for neighboring servers.

  • Test equipment before, during, and after deployment; troubleshoot hardware or operational issues; perform preventive server maintenance; and complete corrective actions to restore or maintain expected performance.

  • Participate in emergency troubleshooting of data center infrastructure, identify the appropriate response path, escalate issues to the appropriate personnel or teams when needed, and follow through until troubleshooting is completed and service impact is addressed.

  • Perform overhauls, inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities for non-rented servers to support readiness, reliability, and reuse.

  • Install, prepare, organize, and stage required materials; deploy new equipment in accordance with available documentation, operating procedures, and technical instructions.

  • Monitor equipment dashboards, alerts, and status indicators to identify abnormal conditions, confirm operational health, and support timely intervention.

  • Ensure service levels are met for server installation, repair, maintenance, and customization activities, including timely execution, accurate work completion, and consistent quality standards.

  • Assess severity of faults, determine potential operational or customer impact, document findings, and prepare necessary incident reports in accordance with internal procedures.

  • Receive, verify, and track materials sent by head office, subcontractors, and suppliers, maintaining accurate records and escalating discrepancies, delays, or quality issues.

  • Support changing operational priorities in a 24x7 data center environment while maintaining safety, security, quality, and attention to detail, and coordinating effectively with technicians, managers, and cross-functional support teams during installation and recovery activities as assigned when required.

Required Qualifications

  • Good knowledge of dedicated server hardware and components, including the ability to understand, identify, and support equipment used in data center server environments.

  • Strong knowledge of the data center operating environment, including network infrastructure, electrical systems, airflow, air filtration, and cooling systems.

  • Ability to perform assigned tasks with minimal supervision while following established procedures, documentation, quality expectations, and escalation protocols.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly with team members, supervisors, and other operational stakeholders.

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work effectively in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing operational needs while maintaining strong attention to detail.

  • Approachable demeanor and ability to remain calm, professional, and responsive under stressful situations, including troubleshooting, service-impacting issues, and urgent operational requests.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to support data center operations, service continuity, and customer commitments.

  • Ability to work any shift in a 24x7 operation, including weekends and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Linux and Windows operating system proficiency is preferred.

  • A technical degree in information technology, or equivalent experience, is preferred.

  • These qualifications are not required minimum qualifications but are preferred because they may support faster onboarding, stronger troubleshooting capability, and effective performance in a data center IT operations environment.
