Common Ground is seeking a Victim Response and Readiness Navigator to be a part of the Common Ground team.

Current Openings: Two Full-Time, 40 hours/week

Compensation : $25.00 - $28.00 per hour

About You

The Victim Response & Resiliency Navigator supports Common Ground’s statewide Victim Response program by providing trauma-informed navigation, advocacy, preparedness support, and response assistance before, during, and after mass violence incidents or other significant community traumatic events. This position helps individuals, families, first responders, and impacted communities access timely information, resources, referrals, and long-term recovery supports while assisting with outreach, preparedness planning, training, and program development in partnership with emergency management, law enforcement, victim service providers, behavioral health partners, and community organizations.

Day in the Life

  • Travel throughout Michigan and work flexible hours during trainings, outreach events, deployments, or urgent response needs

  • Provide trauma-informed, victim-centered support to individuals, families, and community members impacted by mass violence, crime, trauma, or other significant traumatic events

  • Assess immediate, short-term, and long-term needs and connect individuals to behavioral health supports, victim compensation, basic needs, transportation, childcare, medical follow-up, financial assistance, and community resources

  • Participate in Victim Service program deployment activities in coordination with program leadership and community partners

  • Support Family Assistance Centers, Friend and Relatives centers, resiliency centers, community support sites, or other response locations as assigned

  • Assist with intake, resource coordination, service navigation, long-term recovery connections, and maintenance of deployment readiness, including response materials, go kits, outreach resources, and operational supplies

  • Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness during rapidly changing incidents while following established procedures and leadership direction

  • Assist with preparedness activities, outreach, education, presentations, and technical assistance related to victim response and readiness planning

  • Build and maintain relationships with emergency managers, law enforcement, municipal leaders, victim service providers, schools, faith communities, and other community partners

What you need to apply

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Criminal Justice, Public Health, Emergency Management, Human Services, or related field, preferred; equivalent experience may be considered

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

  • Preferred: Experience providing trauma-informed services, crisis intervention, victim advocacy, case management, social services, or community-based support
