Job Description
A lead defense contractor sitting in Lawrence, KS is looking to hire a Chief Systems Engineer. This person will be supporting their onsite operations in support of their Group 2 Helicopter UAS. As part of the design team, he/she will be responsible for leading design activities, working hands on with the product. He/she will be technically leading a team of 6 engineers involving disciplines of GNC, Software, Systems, Program Manager, etc. He/she will be involved in multiple engineering projects, driving requirements development, system architecture, integration, risk management, proposal support, and technical issue resolution. They also mentor engineers, support design reviews, manage configuration baselines, and work closely with leadership on strategic planning and cross-functional execution. This Chief Engineer will be involved in product demonstrations, flight testing activities requiring some travel (x2 a quarter) to California to visit a sister site operation. This role will be paying between $154,500 - $247,250/year depending on years of experience and qualifications.
Skills and Requirements
- 8-10+ years of experience in a multi-disciplinary environment; Industry background within Aerospace and/or Electrical Engineering background
- Demonstrated technical leadership in collaboration with an engineering team working hands on with a product for oversight on design and architecture
- Experience assessing failure analysis, identifying a flight anomalies through failure analysis
- Ability to travel to California as needed x1-2 a quarter
- Previous experience working on a UAS/UAV product
