Summary
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This is a Natural Resources Specialist (Ranger), GS-0401-05 position with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Little Rock District, Operations Division, Greers Ferry Project Office. Located in Heber Springs, AR.
Duties
- Provide natural resources support for shoreline management, encroachment, recreation, and real estate programs.
- Serve as a Natural Resources Specialist (Ranger) for a major water resource project.
- Observe all safety rules, regulations, and directives applicable to the work assignment.
- Participates in environmental assessments, monitors river and watershed environments for water quality, and provides security surveillance of critical facilities.
- Educating the public on project rules, performing surveillance of project lands and waters to prevent unauthorized use and destruction of property.
Qualifications
This is a Term Position: Position may be filled as a Term appointment NTE 13 months. Term appointments may be extended in one year increments up to a maximum of eight years. May be converted to Permanent without further competition at managements discretion. SOU Statement: Permanent Federal employees who accept a time-limited appointment will be expected to sign a statement of understanding to acknowledge the associated impacts to their permanent status. Return Rights: Return Rights will NOT be coordinated for Permanent Federal employees. Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Basic Requirement for Natural Resources Specialist (Ranger): A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. GS-05: Specialized Experience: Applicants who meet the basic requirements described above are fully qualified for this grade level.
