JOB DESCRIPTION:
Pediatric Gastroenterology Physician-Scientist (Open Rank) Opportunity:
The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) John Sealy School of Medicine in Galveston is seeking a full-time Pediatric Gastroenterology Physician-Scientist at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. This is a unique opportunity to join a nationally recognized academic health system and a collaborative team of clinicians dedicated to advancing care for children.
This position offers the opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary environment, contribute to the education of pediatric residents and medical students, and engage in meaningful clinical care across UTMB’s Galveston Island and Clear Lake campuses.
Primary clinical responsibilities include providing coverage in the Pediatric Gastroenterology clinics at Clear Lake Campus; perform endoscopy procedures, provide inpatient consultations at UTMB Galveston and Clear Lake Campus, and supervising and teaching medical students and residents rotating through the Pediatric Gastroenterology service. Additionally, they will assist and develop a productive funded research program.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

This full-time academic role combines clinical care, research, and education within a collaborative health system. The successful candidate will:

Provide comprehensive pediatric gastroenterology care across inpatient and outpatient settings.

Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to support the division’s clinical and educational missions.

Teach and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows.
-
Assist in clinical and/or basic research program within the Division of Gastroenterology. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited medical school.

Completion of an ACGME-accredited Pediatric Residency Program and Pediatric Gastroenterology Fellowship.

Board Certification or Eligibility in Pediatric Gastroenterology.

Ability to obtain an unrestricted Texas medical license.

U.S. Citizenship or Employment Authorization to work in the U.S.

Demonstrated commitment to patient care and medical education.
-
Demonstrated clinical and/or basic science research productivity. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Three years of clinical experience.

Prior academic experience in resident and medical student education.
-
Current transferable funded research.
SALARY:
Commensurate with experience.
