Description
Based within the Division of Collaborative Care & Wellness in the Department of Psychiatry, this role will oversee a NYS Office of Mental Health approved clinical service providing integrated behavioral health services to oncology patients, within the University of Rochester's Cancer Center. The successful candidate will hold a faculty appointment in the Department of Psychiatry at the rank of Assistant Professor or above, commensurate with qualifications and experience. The position supports an individualized academic career that may include teaching, supervision of trainees, clinical innovation, quality improvement, program development, scholarly activity, and research, based on the faculty member's interests and expertise.
Working collaboratively with Psychiatry leadership, Cancer Center leadership, and the Medical Director of the Integrated Behavioral Health in Oncology Service, the Clinical Director is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based behavioral health care embedded within oncology. The role includes oversight of clinical operations, workforce development, quality improvement, regulatory compliance, interdisciplinary collaboration, and strategic program development to support the continued growth and integration of behavioral health services across the Cancer Center.
Key Responsibilities
Administrative Leadership (0.20 FTE)

Provide operational and administrative leadership for the Integrated Behavioral Health Oncology Service.

Partner closely with Department of Psychiatry leadership, Cancer Center leadership, and the Medical Director of the service to establish strategic priorities, align program goals, and support the continued development and growth of integrated behavioral health services within oncology.

Develop, implement, and oversee program workflows, clinical processes, and operational policies that promote efficient, evidence-based, patient-centered care.

Oversee the day-to-day operations of the behavioral health team and facilitate effective interdisciplinary collaboration with oncology providers and staff.

Recruit, onboard, supervise, mentor, and evaluate clinical staff, including providing direct clinical supervision as appropriate.

Monitor clinical, operational, and quality metrics to evaluate program performance, improve patient outcomes, and support continuous quality improvement initiatives.

Ensure compliance with OMH, Joint Commission, URMC, and departmental clinical, regulatory, and documentation standards.

Participate in departmental, divisional, and Cancer Center leadership meetings and committees as appropriate.

Foster collaborative relationships across Psychiatry, Oncology, nursing, social work, and other disciplines to strengthen integrated models of care.
Direct Patient Care (0.80 FTE)

Provide comprehensive psychological evaluation, diagnosis, and evidence-based treatment for patients referred to the Integrated Behavioral Health Oncology Service.

Collaborate closely with oncologists, advanced practice providers, nurses, social workers, psychiatrists, and other members of the interdisciplinary oncology team to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care.

Deliver evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions consistent with the principles of integrated behavioral health and collaborative care.

Contribute to clinical program development, consultation, and education for oncology providers regarding behavioral health issues affecting patients with cancer.

Total Annual compensation ranges:
Senior Instructor $92,150 - $114,886
Assistant Professor $101,650 - $136,217
Associate Professor $129,200 - $177,960
Qualifications
-
PhD or PsyD in Clinical Psychology or Counseling Psychology from an APA-accredited program.

Current licensure (or license eligibility) as a psychologist in New York State.

Demonstrated experience in integrated behavioral health, consultation-liaison psychology, psycho-oncology, or other interdisciplinary healthcare settings preferred.

Prior leadership, supervisory, or program development experience strongly preferred.

Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, and leadership skills, with demonstrated ability to build effective interdisciplinary partnerships.

The referenced pay range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the base range of compensation for this faculty position. Individual salaries will be determined within the job’s salary range and established based on (but not limited to) market data, experience and expertise of the individual, and with consideration to related position salaries. Alignment of clinical incentive-based compensation may also be applicable and will be discussed during the hiring process.
