Full job description

Description We are looking for an experienced payroll leader to oversee accurate and compliant payroll operations for a complex, high-volume workforce in Boston, Massachusetts. This role is well suited to an individual who can manage end-to-end payroll processes, coordinate with external providers, and support payroll activities spanning multiple jurisdictions, including European countries. The ideal candidate brings strong technical payroll knowledge, sound judgment, and the ability to maintain efficiency and precision in a fast-paced services environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the delivery of full-cycle payroll for a large employee population, ensuring timely and accurate processing for recurring payroll cycles.

  • Direct payroll operations across multiple states and support international payroll administration, with particular attention to European country requirements and compliance standards.

  • Oversee payroll records, earnings, deductions, tax withholdings, and reconciliations to maintain accuracy and regulatory alignment.

  • Partner with third-party payroll vendors to coordinate submissions, resolve discrepancies, and improve service quality.

  • Manage payroll systems and reporting tools, including ADP platforms, to support efficient processing and reliable data oversight.

  • Review payroll procedures and internal controls, identifying opportunities to strengthen consistency, accuracy, and audit readiness.

  • Provide guidance to payroll staff and business stakeholders on payroll practices, issue resolution, and policy interpretation. Requirements • At least 5 years of experience in a payroll leadership role with responsibility for managing payroll operations.

  • Demonstrated background overseeing payroll across multiple jurisdictions, including multi-state environments and preferably several European countries.

  • Experience processing high-volume payroll, including payroll populations of more than 500 employees.

  • Proficiency with full-cycle payroll administration and recurring bi-monthly payroll processing.

  • Hands-on experience with ADP Workforce Now and other ADP payroll tools.

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a closely related discipline is preferred.

  • Familiarity with third-party payroll providers and broad knowledge of international payroll practices is strongly preferred.

  • Membership in a recognized payroll, accounting, or related industry association is preferred.
