GovCIO is hiring a Test Automation Engineer to support the Patient Care Services, Pharmacy sub-product line upgrade efforts. This position is responsible for supporting, designing, developing, and maintaining automated functional (including 508-accessibility), regression, API, smoke, and non-functional (e.g., performance) test solutions using modern tools and frameworks. The Test Automation Engineer will work closely with development, DevSecOps, and quality assurance team members to integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and ensure comprehensive test coverage across enterprise applications. This role is a fully remote position within the United States with core hours of operation from Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM ET.

Responsibilities

The Test Automation Engineer is responsible for developing and maintaining enterprise test automation solutions that drive application quality and DevSecOps delivery. This role will design automated test frameworks, build functional and performance test suites, integrate testing into CI/CD pipelines, and support end-to-end quality assurance activities across multiple enterprise applications and interfaces.

  • Develop, execute, and maintain automated functional (including 508-accessibility), regression, API, smoke, and non-functional (e.g., performance, load, stress, endurance) test suites using modern testing tools and frameworks.

  • Develop automated API contract tests for internal and partner-facing REST services.

  • Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.

  • Validate application functionality, business rules, API integrations, and data processing across enterprise systems.

  • Develop data-driven test scenarios using relational SQL and application datasets.

  • Monitor automated test execution, analyze results, and support defect identification and resolution.

  • Maintain automated test assets, repositories, and documentation to support long-term sustainment.

  • Collaborate with developers, analysts, testers, and DevSecOps engineers to ensure complete test coverage and continuous quality improvement.

  • Evaluate and implement responsible AI-assisted test generation, analysis and reporting (e.g., requirement traceability, test execution code coverage, defect analysis, business intelligence), and automation capabilities within the SDLC where appropriate.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or technical discipline plus 8 years of experience in software development, testing and quality assurance (or commensurate experience).

  • Strong hands-on test automation experience using the following technologies (consideration will be given for commensurate experience with similar technologies): Selenium WebDriver, Java, VS Code, 508-accessibility, Jenkins, GitHub, Jira, and Xray (Jira plugin).

  • Experience with Department of Veterans Affairs clinical pharmacy applications and workflows (e.g., VistA, CPRS, FILEMAN, VA FORUM).

  • Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions).

  • Experience designing and executing performance tests using or comparable performance testing tools.

  • Experience writing relational SQL queries to support test validation and data-driven testing.

  • Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) including the software testing lifecycle (STLC), Agile Lifecycle Management (ALM), and DevSecOps practices (e.g., CI/CD).

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills. · Experience implementing AI-assisted test generation, analysis and reporting, and automation capabilities within the SDLC where appropriate.

Clearance Required: Ability to obtain and maintain VA Public Trust

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Hands-on test automation experience using the following technologies (consideration will be given for commensurate experience with similar technologies): Angular / React, REST API, JSON, VA ATI (Automation Tool Interface), Apache Maven, JavaScript, Spring, Jasmine, Postman, Newman, CSS Selector, HTML, relational SQL databases (e.g., organizational data repository, Oracle SQL, Toad), performance (e.g., JMeter), security (e.g., CodeQL).

  • Experience supporting VA applications (e.g., AMPL-GUI, VDIF, HDR), or other highly regulated / federal healthcare applications.

  • Experience supporting federal cloud-based environments (e.g., Amazon Web Services GovCloud, S3).

Posted Salary Range

USD $115,000.00 - USD $120,000.00 /Yr.
