Duties

  • Prepares correspondence and briefing materials to support taskings given by the Deputy Director of Total Force Pay. Provides policy interpretations and functional recommendations to the Deputy Director on diverse financial management issues.
  • Performs technical review of correspondence and other materials submitted to the Deputy related to the Total Force Pay Mission. Reviews, prioritizes and addresses issues impacting planning, implementation, and evaluation of mission area programs.
  • Identifies problem areas, conducts analysis, and recommends actions and taskings to improve operations, correct deficiencies, and prevent the future occurrence of problems.
  • Exercises sound technical judgment in prioritizing and resolving issues. Ensures that sensitive issues are handled in a manner that honors the trust and confidentiality required by the inherent nature of a situation or issue.
  • Represents the Deputy on committees and working groups within and outside the organization. Advises the Deputy on critical issues resulting from meetings, customer/site visits, and externally driven events and recommends follow up actions.

Qualifications

One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-13) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized experience is defined as: providing expert-level financial management advisory assistance to organizational leaders and supported customers on complex financial policies, concepts, and resolution of high-level operational challenges. You may qualify for consideration if meeting specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.

This position is not covered by a bargaining unit. Employment in this position requires a background investigation which may delay starting date. Failure to become certified within the required time-frame may be grounds for removal from the position and/or from Federal service.
