Full job description

Job Description:

The Senior Program Manager, EHS Central Programs supports the development, review, and ongoing effectiveness of assigned EHS programs across Chewy’s FC, Rx, and Corporate Hub networks. This role helps ensure programs remain aligned with applicable laws, regulations, standards, and internal requirements while determining which programs should be developed, updated, or reviewed based on business needs, operational changes, risk trends, incident and audit findings, program maturity, and feedback from the field.

Working with EHS subject matter experts and cross-functional partners, the Senior Program Manager helps translate technical and regulatory requirements into clear standard work, training inputs, practical mechanisms, and accessible resources. The role supports alignment between program expectations and how work is performed, learned, documented, and sustained in the field.

The Senior Program Manager serves as a central point of coordination for assigned programs, maintaining program information, review cadence, implementation resources, and feedback loops. The role identifies gaps, supports recommendations, and escalates decisions or risks through the established EHS governance structure.

What You’ll Do Responsibilities may include the following, depending on assigned programs and business priorities:

  • Support the prioritization of EHS program development and review based on business needs, operational changes, risk, trends, program maturity, inconsistency, and field feedback.

  • Coordinate with EHS subject matter experts and relevant business partners to develop, review, and maintain practical program content that is current, aligned with applicable laws, regulations, standards, and internal requirements, and reflective of how work is performed across FC, Rx, and Corporate Hub environments.

  • Support alignment of EHS program requirements with operational standard work and learning materials, including procedures, job instructions, checklists, forms, training, job aids, and qualification materials.

  • Develop, maintain, or coordinate practical program mechanisms and resources such as templates, forms, workflows, checklists, trackers, dashboards, knowledge-center content, and document repositories.

  • Support implementation, communication, and adoption of program updates through clear guidance, change summaries, FAQs, field support, and feedback collection.

  • Review program effectiveness using available feedback, adoption information, training data, mechanism use, action closure, and other practical indicators; recommend refinements as needed.

  • Maintain clear program records, including ownership, status, version history, approvals, effective dates, review timing, and links to related resources.

  • Facilitate collaboration among EHS, Operations, site EHS, Learning & Development, Systems & Data, Maintenance & Reliability, Procurement, and other partners as appropriate.

  • Communicate program status, recommendations, dependencies, and unresolved issues clearly to stakeholders and EHS leadership.

  • undefined

What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety, environmental science, industrial hygiene, engineering, business, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.

  • Typically 8+ years of experience in EHS program management, operational standard work, training enablement, business process improvement, or related work in a multi-site environment.

  • Experience prioritizing program development or review based on business needs, risk, operational changes, program maturity, performance trends, and stakeholder feedback.

  • Experience working with EHS subject matter experts, Learning & Development, and cross-functional partners to develop or review programs and align requirements with standard work, training, mechanisms, and field execution.

  • Ability to translate technical and regulatory requirements into clear, usable program content and practical resources.

  • Experience designing or improving mechanisms that make EHS requirements easier to execute, document, monitor, and sustain.

  • Working knowledge of OSHA General Industry requirements and the EHS program areas assigned to the role.

  • Familiarity with EHS management systems, learning systems, SharePoint or knowledge platforms, workflow tools, and reporting or dashboard solutions.

  • Strong prioritization, facilitation, organization, analytical, communication, and change-management skills.

  • Ability to build alignment and move work forward through influence and collaboration, including when technical ownership rests with an SME or another function.

  • Relevant professional certification is preferred.

  • Ability to travel up to 40% as business needs require.
