Payroll Specialist

Contract Payroll Specialist (Can be Fully Remote if need be) We are seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join our team on a contract basis to provide coverage for a leave of absence. This is an excellent opportunity for a payroll professional with strong Workday Payroll experience who can quickly step in and support a complex, multi-state payroll environment. This position is expected to last approximately 4 months. Key Responsibilities * Process and support monthly U.S. payroll activities for a multi-state employee population using Workday Payroll. * Submit payroll inputs and updates through Workday EIB. * Review employee changes, compensation updates, deductions, benefits enrollments, tax elections, and time entry information. * Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies while ensuring payroll accuracy and compliance. * Respond to employee questions regarding pay, taxes, deductions, and payroll transactions. * Support payroll audits, reconciliations, and reporting activities. * Coordinate with third-party payroll service providers regarding payments, tax notices, and payroll-related inquiries. * Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee and payroll information. Qualifications * Minimum of 5 years of hands-on U.S. payroll processing experience using Workday Payroll. * Experience managing or supporting the full payroll cycle in a multi-state environment. * Strong understanding of payroll taxes, garnishments, benefits deductions, and payroll compliance requirements. * Advanced analytical and reconciliation skills with the ability to identify and resolve payroll issues. * Strong Excel skills, including experience with functions such as VLOOKUPs and data analysis. * Ability to work independently and quickly learn existing payroll processes. * Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills. Preferred Qualifications * Experience working with OneSource Virtual (OSV). * Experience supporting payroll populations of several hundred employees. * Prior experience in a remote payroll environment. Additional Information * Fully remote opportunity. * Approximately 4-month contract assignment. * Standard business hours with some flexibility. * Interview process consists of 1-2 virtual interviews.
