Figure is an AI robotics company developing autonomous general-purpose humanoid robots. The goal of the company is to ship humanoid robots with human level intelligence. Its robots are engineered to perform a variety of tasks in the home and commercial markets. Figure is headquartered in San Jose, CA.

We are looking for a Commercial Technician to assist our commercial team in building and maintaining custom work cells to replicate client facilities. Our night team keeps builds and equipment running around the clock, so you'll work largely independently and hand off progress to the day-shift workcell team.

Schedule: Night shift, 7:30 PM–4:00 AM (subject to minor adjustments based on operational needs), 5 nights per week, fully on-site in San Jose, CA.

Responsibilities: Equipment Maintenance & Repair

• Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair all work cell equipment, including conveyors, drives, motors, sensors, safety devices, and controls, to minimize downtime.

• Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical issues on conveyor systems, motors, and drives (VFDs).

• Install, align, calibrate, and verify sensors and safety devices (light curtains, photo eyes, volume sensors), confirming safe operation after any repair or adjustment.

• Troubleshoot control systems, including PLCs and Raspberry Pi devices, from I/O and wiring faults to program backups and basic software or connectivity issues.

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and diagnose faults.

• Log repairs, root causes, and parts used.

Mechanical

• Assemble precision mechanical components to meet project specifications.

• Provide feedback to the engineering and prototyping team.

• Perform repairs and modifications on mechanical assemblies.

• Document assembly processes and any modifications made.

• Maintain a clean and organized workspace.

• Communicate issues and updates promptly to relevant teams.

Electrical & PLC

• Read and interpret electrical schematics to ensure accurate assembly.

• Assemble and integrate electrical components into PLC terminal cabinets.

• Install wiring and components within automation cabinets.

• Conduct testing of assembled fixtures and troubleshoot any issues.

• Document assembly processes and any modifications made.

• Provide feedback to the engineering and prototyping team.

• Maintain a clean and organized workspace.

• Communicate issues and updates promptly to relevant teams.

Requirements:

• 5+ years experience as a technician in a related field.

• Hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing industrial automation equipment, such as conveyors, motors, VFDs, sensors, and safety devices.

• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.

• Working knowledge of 3-phase power, motor control circuits, and PLC I/O troubleshooting.

• High level understanding of precision measuring equipment and/or electrical assembly and integration.

• Able to work independently with minimal supervision and make sound judgment calls overnight.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

• Proficient in Google Suite or similar.

• Able to consistently work the night shift schedule.

Bonus Qualifications:

• Preventive maintenance program experience.

• Fabrication experience and manual machining experience.

• Catia or other CAD experience.

• PLC Programming and Integration.

• Electrical automation integration and panel building.

This is a six-month fixed-term agreement, with potential for longer-term opportunities depending on your contributions and interests.

The US base pay range for this full-time position is $40.00 to $65.00 per hour.

The pay offered for this position may vary based on several individual factors, including job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package may also include additional components/benefits depending on the specific role.
