Overview

The Veteran Resources Center (https://studentaffairs.auburn.edu/veterans/) at Auburn University is excited to begin the serch for Veteran Resource Center Coordinator! The Program Coordinator for the Veterans Resource Center (VRC) supports Auburn University's mission to assist military-affiliated students in achieving academic and career success. This role includes coordinating VRC operations, promoting engagement through campus programs and events, and managing resources that contribute to military-affiliated student retention and graduation. The Program Coordinator also collaborates with campus partners and provides key data analysis to inform decisions and improve support services for militaryaffiliated students.

Responsibilities

  • Program Development and Implementation: Lead the development, promotion, and implementation of VRC programming that supports military-affiliated students' academic, social, and professional needs. Administer recurring programs such as the Veterans Success Program, Career Connections, Rucksacks to Backpacks, Math Bootcamp, tutoring support, orientation and welcome activities, and other student success initiatives. Conduct outreach to prospective, incoming, and continuing military-affiliated students through email, newsletters, presentations, registration campaigns, office visits, and follow-up communication.

  • Major Events and External Engagement: Lead or coordinate major VRC and ASVA events, including the annual Veterans Scholarship Gala, Veterans Golf Classic, Memorial Day ceremony, Military Appreciation Week, Tiger Giving Day, Operation Iron Ruck, and other signature programs assigned by the Director. Responsibilities include plans and event timelines, coordinate speakers, scholarship recipients, sponsors, donors, employers, vendors, guests, volunteers, and secure facilities. Maintain sponsor packages, solicitation materials, guest lists, donor records, and vendor documentation. Support fundraising and stewardship efforts that provide scholarships, technology, tutoring, emergency support, professional resources, and other assistance for military-affiliated students.

  • Data Collection, Analysis, and Reporting: Lead data collection efforts related to all VRC initiatives, including visitation rates, program attendance, and academic outcomes of military-affiliated students. Utilize tools available to compile, visualize, and analyze data, providing insights to inform strategic planning. Prepare and present regular reports for VRC leadership, identifying successes and recommending improvements to enhance the center’s impact on student retention and graduation rates.

  • Outreach and Campus Partnerships: Engage in ongoing efforts to educate faculty and staff on best practices for supporting military-affiliated students. Build and maintain partnerships with academic units, Student Affairs departments, campus partners, veteran-serving organizations, military units, government agencies, and community partners. Schedule, maintain, and deliver Green Zone Training and other educational presentations for faculty, staff, students, and community partners. Represent the VRC at committees, working groups, meetings, orientation programs, involvement fairs, employer events, and university or community initiatives. Work alongside and support the Auburn Student Veterans Association and other student leaders, with emphasis on leadership development, responsible event planning, continuity, and university requirements.

  • Communications, Marketing, and Resource Development: Develop clear and audience appropriate newsletters, email campaigns, web content, social media posts, event invitations, resource guides, presentations, flyers, registration forms, sponsor materials, and student instructions. Coordinate with Student Affairs Communications and other university partners to ensure materials follow Auburn branding, accessibility, and approval requirements.

  • Feedback and Continuous Improvement: Report programming expenses, ensuring sustainability and cost-efficiency. Explore potential sponsorships, grant opportunities and other funding sources to support and expand VRC services and programs, with a focus on long-term support for military-affiliated students. Regularly update leadership on student feedback, program outcomes, and innovative solutions for enhancing the VRC’s role in fostering student success.

  • Administrative and Operational Support: Ensure a thorough understanding of VA educational benefits, policies, procedures, and regulations. Assist School Certifying Officials provide guidance and understanding to university students utilizing educational benefits.

Qualifications

Level I:

  • Bachelor's degree

Level II:

  • Bachelor's degree plus 2 years of experience OR

  • Master's degree

Level III:

  • Bachelor's degree plus 4 years of experience OR

  • Master's degree plus 2 years of experience

Scope of Experience: Experience in financial aid processes or military/veterans affairs.
