Job Description

Full-Time Emergency Department Secretary Geneva General Hospital | Hiring Rate: $18.29–$19.91/hour

Geneva General Hospital is looking for an organized, compassionate, and customer-focused professional to join our Emergency Department team as a Full-Time Secretary!

As an ED Secretary, you'll play a key role in keeping the department organized and supporting the clinical team. You'll interact with patients, families, visitors, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals while helping ensure the day-to-day operations of the Emergency Department run smoothly.

Hiring Rate: $18.29–$19.91 per hour

Schedule: Full-Time

What You'll Do

  • Provide clerical and administrative support to the Emergency Department.

  • Review Emergency Department records for completion and ensure proper filing.

  • Maintain and improve the department's filing system.

  • Manage departmental office supplies and assist with inventory and budget information.

  • Process, sort, and distribute departmental mail.

  • Welcome visitors and provide professional, courteous customer service.

  • Answer and appropriately direct telephone calls, taking accurate messages when needed.

  • Enter Radiology, Laboratory, and EKG orders accurately and efficiently into the Meditech system.

  • Enter and process discharge information, including transfers and other required documentation.

  • Work closely with the Emergency Department team to support efficient clinical operations.

What We're Looking For

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • At least 2 years of general secretarial experience.

  • Strong computer skills.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively as part of a team.

  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.

Preferred:

  • Associate degree in secretarial or healthcare-related studies.

  • Medical terminology coursework.

  • Previous Emergency Department experience.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office and electronic medical records, particularly Meditech.
