The successful candidate brings strong technical depth in environmental investigations and remediation, demonstrated ownership of tasks and subprojects, and a track record of mentoring staff, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, and delivering high-quality work on time and on budget.

Responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to the following:

  • Lead task and subproject execution for environmental investigation and remediation programs (soil, soil vapor, groundwater), working with minimal supervision and reporting to a Project Manager or Deputy Project Manager.

  • Plan and perform remediation system operation, maintenance, optimization, and monitoring; develop O&M plans and troubleshoot performance issues.

  • Develop scopes, schedules, and budgets; track progress and variances; support change management and forecasting.

  • Coordinate and oversee subcontractors and field/support staff; plan fieldwork logistics, health and safety, and quality control.

  • Analyze field and laboratory data; prepare conceptual site models; perform routine to advanced engineering calculations and design analyses.

  • Prepare clear, technically robust deliverables, including work plans, design drawings/specifications, remedial action plans, cost estimates, and technical reports.

  • Support remedial design (e.g., SVE, AS, P&T, in-situ treatment) and construction phase services (submittal reviews, RFIs, field engineering, punch lists).

  • Interface with clients and regulators; support meetings, presentations, and response-to-comments.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and scientists; perform QA/QC reviews.

  • Champion health, safety, and quality practices; prepare JHAs/THAs and lead by example in the field.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS in Environmental Engineering or related field and a minimum 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

  • Valid driver’s license with ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check per company policy.

  • Successful candidate will have to pass a background check.

  • Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds with assistance during fieldwork and safely drive a full-size pickup truck.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering or related field.

  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER and current 8-hour annual refresher (or ability to obtain prior to start).

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and common field/data tools; strong technical writing and documentation skills.

  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Oregon, or ability to obtain within 6–12 months of hire; Washington P.E. is a plus.

  • 8+ years of experience, including task leadership, client interaction, and regulatory coordination.

  • Hands-on experience with soil and groundwater remediation systems (design, startup, O&M, optimization) and preparation of plans, specifications, and engineer’s cost estimates.

  • Familiarity with Oregon DEQ cleanup programs and guidance; experience with Washington State Department of Ecology and Pacific Northwest regulatory frameworks.

  • Demonstrated mentorship of junior staff; positive, proactive communicator willing to offer constructive suggestions to teams, subcontractors, clients, and regulators.

  • Working knowledge of data management/visualization and modeling tools (e.g., Excel-based data workflows, GIS/EQuIS/graphics; groundwater or fate/transport modeling exposure a plus).
