Full job description
Correction Officer Department: Sheriffs Base Salary or Hourly: (Full-Time) $45,481 OR $21.8657 (PD) (hourly rate) The Correction Officer Exam is on a Continuous Recruitment Exam Schedule. Please see the exam announcement on the Countys website for quarterly dates and deadlines. Applicants for this vacancy must also simultaneously apply for the training and experience exam, offered quarterly. A $20.00 exam filing fee is required with application. The resulting exam eligible list will be used to fill vacancies as they exist. If eligible list is exhausted, provisional appointment pending civil service exam may be considered. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: On or before the date of the exam or appointment, to be eligible, applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications: Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma. SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: (Copy of drivers license must accompany application.) Must possess a valid NYS Drivers License upon application with a driving record acceptable to the Countys insurance carrier maintained throughout employment RESIDENCY: Candidates must have been a legal resident of the County of Franklin or a neighboring County (Clinton, Essex, Hamilton and St. Lawrence) for at least 30 days immediately preceding the date of the test. Local preference in certification may be given per Civil Service Rule VII.
