Full job description

Description We are looking for a skilled Full Charge Bookkeeper to support the day-to-day financial operations of a construction company in California. This hybrid contract-to-permanent opportunity is ideal for someone who brings strong accounting accuracy, excellent organization, and the ability to manage core bookkeeping functions independently. The person in this role will help maintain reliable financial records, oversee payment activity, and provide clear reporting to internal leadership.

Responsibilities: • Manage the full bookkeeping cycle, ensuring financial transactions are recorded accurately and kept up to date. • Oversee client invoicing, collections, vendor payments, and other accounts receivable and accounts payable activities. • Process payroll and maintain supporting records in compliance with company and reporting requirements. • Perform bank and credit card reconciliations to verify balances and resolve discrepancies promptly. • Prepare monthly financial statements, including balance sheets and profit and loss reports, for leadership review. • Track project-related costs to support job costing and improve visibility into construction expenses. • Complete workers’ compensation and general liability reporting, including documentation needed for audits. • Record journal entries and assist with tax planning preparation and other accounting support activities. • Collaborate with company leadership and administrative stakeholders to provide timely financial updates and accounting insight. Requirements • Demonstrated experience in full charge bookkeeping, preferably within a construction or project-based environment.

  • Expert-level proficiency with QuickBooks Online and strong working knowledge of Excel and Word.

  • Hands-on experience managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, and payroll processing.

  • Solid understanding of bank reconciliations, credit card reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.

  • Experience preparing financial reports such as balance sheets and profit and loss statements.

  • Familiarity with job costing, journal entries, and audit support related to workers’ compensation or liability coverage.

  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently in an accounting-focused role.
