If you want to use your skills to build a healthier, more resilient community, we encourage you to apply.This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health, Waccamaw Center for Mental Health South Strand, 9630 Scipio Lane, Myrtle Beach, SC 29588. As the Licensed Practical Nurse, Non-Institutional, working under direct supervision for the Waccamaw Center for Mental Health's South Strand Office, you will perform medical assistant duties and collaborate closely with staff, physicians, nurses, and the front office to deliver high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities for the Licensed Practical Nurse: • Administer direct patient care, including giving injections and measuring vital signs (weight, blood pressure, height, pulse rate) per physician and nurse orders.

  • Conduct patient screenings, including COVID-19 protocols, and manage telehealth room logistics.

  • Coordinate medical appointments and manage scheduling workflows.

  • Serve as Patient Assistance Program (PAP) Coordinator, managing end-to-end medication assistance paperwork and compliance.

  • Oversee inventory logistics for incoming PAP medications, including logging shipments, reviewing client prescriptions, and coordinating patient pick-ups.

  • Organize and maintain the medication storage room to ensure safety and efficiency.

  • Process prior authorization requests efficiently, collaborating with physicians to resolve complex medication approvals.

  • Cross-train in Business Office operations to provide seamless coverage and conduct patient appointment reminder calls.

  • Maintain precise medical records and chart documentation in strict accordance with State, Federal, Local, BHDD, WCMH, Quality Assurance, Corporate Compliance, and CARF standards.

  • Graduated from an accredited school of nursing.

  • Successful completion of an approved nursing education program for professional nursing or an equivalent course of study from an approved nursing education program per Section 40-33-32 of the South Carolina Nurse Licensure Act.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be able to provide assistance to physicians and nurses supports quality patient care by streamlining clinical workflows and enhancing patient safety.

  • Must be able to bend, stoop, walk, sit, stand, reach, carry, lift 40 pounds and hear at normal volume and communicate with patients.

  • Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.

Post hire, employee must:

  • Experience working in a mental health setting.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of practical nursing procedures and ability to make accurate technical and physical observation of patients.
  • Extensive skills in coordinating services with other health and community organizations.
  • Ability to established and maintain working relationships patients and families.
  • Through knowledge of the services provided in a comprehensive mental health program serving children and families and adults.
