Job Description:

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

If so, Student Wellness with the Division of Student Affairs at Iowa State University is currently seeking applicants for a Violence Prevention Specialist. This individual plays a key role in advancing student health and wellbeing through strategic communication, data-informed storytelling, and health promotion initiatives. This position will be hired as a Wellness Program Specialist II.

This position will focus on violence prevention education and outreach. This position includes work in areas such as sexual violence, stalking, and hazing.

What You’ll Do:

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate violence prevention and health promotion programs, initiatives, and educational campaigns

  • Plan, facilitate, and assess trainings, workshops, presentations, and outreach efforts focused on violence prevention, consent education, bystander intervention, and student wellbeing

  • Coordinate and support campus-wide prevention initiatives, awareness campaigns, events, and programs that foster a safe and healthy campus community

  • Build and maintain collaborative partnerships with campus departments, student groups, community organizations, and external stakeholders to advance prevention efforts

  • Support the implementation, assessment, and continuous improvement of university violence prevention strategies, programs, and strategic priorities

  • Recruit, train, supervise, and support peer educators and student leaders engaged in prevention education and outreach activities

  • Develop and disseminate educational materials, resources, digital content, and marketing strategies to increase awareness, engagement, and access to support services

  • Collect, analyze, and report program data and assessment outcomes to measure effectiveness, demonstrate impact, and inform continuous improvement

  • Serve on university and community committees, workgroups, and collaborative initiatives that support prevention, safety, and wellbeing goals

Occasional weekend/evening hours will be involved in this role.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Specialized training or coursework in violence prevention, sexual assault prevention, healthy relationships, etc.

  • Certification in bystander intervention, violence prevention, trauma-informed practices, or similar prevention-focused approaches.

  • Experience facilitating workshops, presentations and health promotion training.

  • Experience coordinating, facilitating, and training teams; preferably focused on prevention education and outreach efforts.

  • Experience using tools such as Smartsheet and/or Qualtrics.
