Construction Accountant

Description

We are looking for an experienced Construction Accountant to support core accounting operations for a construction and contractor-focused organization in Ocala, Florida. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing the monthly close cycle, and ensuring balance sheet accounts are properly reconciled. The ideal candidate brings strong general ledger expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

• Lead key activities tied to the monthly close process, ensuring deadlines are met and financial data is complete and accurate.

• Prepare and post journal entries that reflect daily and periodic accounting activity in accordance with established standards.

• Maintain the general ledger by reviewing transactions, resolving discrepancies, and supporting the integrity of financial reporting.

• Perform account reconciliations on a recurring basis to confirm balances are properly supported and variances are investigated.

• Complete bank reconciliations by matching cash activity, identifying exceptions, and following through on outstanding items.

• Assist with the review of financial records and documentation to promote accuracy, consistency, and audit readiness.

• Utilize Sage Intacct to manage accounting transactions, reporting tasks, and related financial processes.

Requirements • 5+ years of accounting experience, including senior-level responsibility for close and reconciliation activities.

• Demonstrated knowledge of month-end close procedures, general ledger accounting, and journal entry preparation.

• Hands-on experience performing account reconciliations and resolving balance discrepancies.

• Proven ability to complete bank reconciliations with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

• Experience working with Sage Intacct in an accounting environment.

• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet recurring deadlines in a fast-moving business setting.
