Description We are looking for an experienced Finance Manager to support valuation oversight and fund reporting activities for a major asset management organization in New York, New York. This Long-term Contract opportunity is ideal for a detail-oriented candidate with deep knowledge of private equity secondaries, fund accounting, and investment analysis who can bring structure and accuracy to a high-volume portfolio environment. The role will focus on reviewing valuation inputs, validating capital movements, and working across teams to strengthen reporting quality and portfolio insight.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the monthly review of valuation results for a sizable private equity secondaries portfolio, ensuring figures are complete, well-supported, and aligned with reporting standards.

  • Validate partner-provided investment values, capital transactions, and portfolio activity by performing detailed reconciliations and roll-forward analysis.

  • Examine large volumes of investment data, identify inconsistencies or unusual trends, and resolve issues through structured financial analysis using Excel and internal platforms.

  • Oversee day-to-day workflow for entry-level team members involved in the valuation cycle, providing guidance and reviewing work for accuracy and timeliness.

  • Collaborate with finance, valuation, and investment specialists to refine reporting methods, improve operational efficiency, and support portfolio-related analysis requests.

  • Contribute to fund reporting deliverables by ensuring underlying financial data is accurate, consistent, and ready for month-end and periodic reporting needs. Requirements • 7+ years of experience in finance, fund accounting, or valuation roles within asset management, private equity, or investment management environments.

  • Strong background in private equity secondaries and a clear understanding of valuation review, capital activity tracking, and fund reporting practices.

  • Demonstrated experience with month-end close, financial reporting, and analytical review of investment portfolio data.

  • Advanced Excel skills with the ability to work efficiently in data-intensive environments and investigate reporting discrepancies.

  • Knowledge of fund structures, investment performance analysis, and financial modeling relevant to private investment portfolios.

  • Ability to coordinate deliverables across teams, review entry-level staff output, and communicate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline; advanced credentials are a plus.
