Staff Accountant

Description

Robert Half is in the process of recruiting a Staff Accountant to join a growing company in the Chapel Hill, North Carolina area. The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in Accounting and at least two plus years General Ledger accounting experience,. Advanced Excel skills are required and experience with SAP is a plus. The primary function of this role is to support our accounting operations by accurately recording daily and monthly transactions, conducting research, preparing reports, and assisting with month-end closing activities. Responsibilities:

• Accurately record daily and monthly transactional activity in accordance with GAAP and company accounting policies

• Prepare and reconcile general ledger accounts on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis

• Assist in preparing financial statements for monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting

• Contribute to the annual external audit process

• Collaborate with Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and other departments to resolve any accounting issues

• Prepare monthly journal entries to ensure accurate reporting

• Manage special projects as assigned by the Controller

• Maintain accurate records of fixed assets and intangibles

• Conduct bank account reconciliation to ensure accuracy of financial statements

• Utilize SAP and Microsoft Excel to maintain and analyze financial data.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in general ledger accounting or a closely related accounting role.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is preferred.

• Working knowledge of month-end close procedures, journal entries, and account reconciliation practices.

• Experience reconciling bank accounts and other balance sheet accounts with a high level of accuracy.

• Familiarity with fixed asset accounting and financial record maintenance.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and comfort working in SAP.

• Understanding of U.S. GAAP and standard accounting controls.

• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with careful attention to detail.
