Duties
- Manages IT projects using methods and practices based on appropriate directives and instructions and quality standards to plan, direct, and coordinate the selection, acquisition and implementation of advanced information systems.
- Evaluates new and existing information technologies, processes, and software for application to the mission needs. Conducts feasibility and economic analyses of candidate technologies including cost estimates and options.
- Provides senior level systems expertise responsible for the complete life cycle management of IT development, from feasibility analysis, system requirements collection and definition to testing, documentation and implementation.
- Incumbent prepares plans, schedules, analyses, and system architecture, design and infrastructure documents. Provides policy guidance to customers by assessing policy needs and reviewing, revising and developing policies to govern IT activities.
- Functions as an IT expert in support of missions, as a member of committees or working groups, or as a participant at conferences or meetings. Makes recommendations for information products or systems in order to to meet mission requirements.

Attention to Detail- experience reviewing my own information technology-related work or data and have been asked by others to review their work or data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards. Customer Service- experience maintaining relationships with customers, assessing current information technology needs of customers, and developing or identifying information technology products and services that are tailored to meet customer needs. Oral Communication- briefing mid-level management and IT staff on the status of information technology systems, projects, or daily operations, including the communication of technical information to a non-technical audience. Problem Solving- identifying alternatives to address complex information technology-related issues by gathering and applying information from a variety of sources that provide a number of potential solutions. FOR ENTRY AT THE GS-12 In addition to meeting the basic requirement: Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-11) in the Federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience is defined as: Experience developing, implementing, or system modification to an organization's automated information software or system; serving on technology projects that impacts automated software and systems. FOR ENTRY AT THE GS-13 In addition to meeting the basic requirement: Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-12) in the Federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience is defined as: Experience participating in the development life cycle of IT software and systems, including analysis, design, development, programming, testing, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of software and systems; participating in structured project management activities in regard to IT software and systems objectives. You may qualify for consideration if meeting specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.
