Full job description

Employment Type: Full timeShift: Day Shift Description: Lead Spiritual Care and Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) programs across a mission-driven healthcare ministry. This leadership role oversees Spiritual Care services, chaplain operations, and ACPE-accredited Clinical Pastoral Education programs while ensuring excellence in patient care, staff development, and educational outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and operational oversight for Spiritual Care services across the care continuum.
  • Recruit, develop, coach, and manage chaplains and Spiritual Care staff.
  • Oversee ACPE-accredited CPE programs, including curriculum development, student admissions, onboarding, and educator/student supervision.
  • Ensure compliance with ACPE accreditation standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies.
  • Lead accreditation reviews, annual reporting, and Medicare pass-through documentation.
  • Manage CPE interns, residents, and Certified Educator Candidates, including hiring, orientation, performance coaching, and evaluations.
  • Partner with Mission Leadership and community faith organizations to strengthen Spiritual Care services.
  • Promote evidence-based Spiritual Care practices and documentation within the electronic medical record.
  • Support talent development, succession planning, and professional growth of chaplains, students, and volunteers.
  • Contribute to the profession through teaching, research, presentations, and publications.
  • Provide direct chaplaincy services as needed.

Qualifications

  • Certified Educator credential required; National Faculty designation preferred.
  • Current ACPE Certified Educator certification required.
  • Board Certified Chaplain (APC, CASC, NACC, CPEI, or NAJC).
  • Master of Divinity (or equivalent) from an accredited seminary/divinity school.
  • Completion of four ACPE units (1,600 hours) of Spiritual Care education.
  • Required faith-group endorsement and ongoing certification maintenance.
  • Minimum 3 years of leadership experience and 5 years of progressively responsible experience in Spiritual Care, pastoral leadership, education, project management, or process improvement.
  • Healthcare ministry experience preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, relationship-building, project management, and operational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and healthcare technology systems.
