$25.50 - $38.00

A Brief Overview

Performs specialized immunohistochemistry procedures under supervision of leader and Pathologist.

What you will do

  • Performs routine histology techniques including, but not limited to: specimen accessioning, tissue embedding, cutting, staining, cover-slipping, labeling, and specimen filing.

  • Performs routine immunohistochemistry techniques including, but not limited to: proper antibody and probe handling, processing immunohistochemistry requests, digital imaging of stained slides, and maintaining control slide inventory.

  • Performs specialized immunohistochemistry techniques including, but not limited to: creating and validating new control blocks, validating new antibody and probe protocols, troubleshooting antibody and probe staining techniques.

  • Performs specialized immunohistochemistry and molecular send out testing to reference laboratories.

  • Remains up to date on standards and requirements to keep the immunohistochemistry department compliant with federal governing agencies and regulating bodies.

  • Assists Histology leadership with student teaching.

  • Assists Histologyleadership with quality assurance and continuous quality improvement projects.

Essential Qualifications

The individual must be able to work the hours specified. Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:

  • Associate's Transcript showing 12 semester hours (18 quarter hours) of chemistry and biology (must include credit hours in both) or

  • Some College Transcript showing 60 semester hours (90 quarter hours) of academic credit from an accredited college or university

  • Histotechnician (HT) - American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) within 180 Days

Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:

  • Qualification in Immunohistochemistry (QIHC) - American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)

  • 1-3 years routine histology experience
