Head Cook Durand Area Schools

ESS, in partnership with Durand Area Schools is looking for a qualified candidates to work in various positions in the school cafeteria. Pay is $13.73 to $15 per hour. Job summary: Both Head Cook and Cooks helper positions available. Head Cooks Provide direction and guidance to kitchen staff in managing tasks associated with the meal preparation, serving and clean up for breakfast and/or lunch periods. The head cook serves as the "lead" or individual in charge under the Michigan Food Code, should the health department conduct an inspection on site. Cooks helpers assist the Head Cook with prep work and other necessary tasks. Essential Job Functions: All duties connected to managing the kitchen area as it relates to the preparation, serving, and handling of food for student/staff meals. These tasks may include; management of confidential student information (pertaining to free/reduced meals), operate POS and balance cash drawer, supervise kitchen operations and food preparation in accordance with approved menus, date/store food items according to health department standards, monitor food and supply inventory, provide weekly food and supply orders to Food Service Director, complete daily production records, attend training as required, and any other duties as assigned.
