CTG's long-standing Fortune 500 client of over 15 years has a W2 contract assignment for a Process Engineer II.

Type: Contract

Job Title: Process Engineer II

Location: Newton, NC

Candidates must be able to commute and work onsite in Newton, NC

Pay Rate: Based on experience

Work Hours: M-F 8am-5pm

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field

Description

The Process Engineer II supports manufacturing process qualification, optimization, capacity expansion, equipment upgrades, and capital projects. This role develops process solutions, analyzes performance data, resolves technical issues, and supports projects from design through commissioning and closeout.

Responsibilities:

  • Support process development, equipment upgrades, modifications, and continuous-improvement initiatives through startup and performance verification.

  • Qualify, troubleshoot, and optimize manufacturing processes, equipment, workflows, and operating conditions.

  • Perform process calculations, equipment-sizing evaluations, capacity studies, process simulations, and statistical data analysis.

  • Develop and maintain process descriptions, PFDs, P&IDs, equipment specifications, calculations, reports, procedures, and other engineering documentation.

  • Support process recipe development, testing, validation, and integration.

  • Partner with project managers and cross-functional teams to define scope, manage technical risks, track schedules, and implement corrective actions.

  • Participate in design, process-safety, risk, and Management of Change reviews.

  • Develop and execute commissioning plans, startup procedures, test protocols, and acceptance criteria.

  • Investigate process issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.

  • Drive improvements using Lean, Six Sigma, DMAIC, DOE, 8D, FMEA, and related methodologies.

  • Prepare trial summaries and present technical and statistical data to managers and stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with production, maintenance, quality, R&D, EHS, automation, vendors, and contractors to ensure processes are safe, compliant, reliable, and maintainable.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of process, manufacturing, or project engineering experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.

  • Experience with process improvement, equipment upgrades, process development, or manufacturing operations.

  • Ability to develop and review PFDs, P&IDs, process calculations, equipment specifications, and technical documentation.

  • Experience supporting construction, commissioning, startup, production troubleshooting, or field activities.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, communication, and technical writing skills.

  • Experience presenting statistical data to cross-functional teams using appropriate software and analytical tools.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and statistical analysis software such as JMP.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced project environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Aspen Plus, HYSYS, AutoCAD Plant 3D, MATLAB, Microsoft Project, Primavera, or similar engineering/project-management tools.

  • Knowledge of process equipment, instrumentation, automation, PLC, SCADA, DCS, and control systems.

  • Familiarity with HAZOP, What-If, PHA, LOPA, FMEA, and Management of Change processes.

  • Knowledge of applicable OSHA, NFPA, ASME, API, ISA, EPA, GMP, FDA, or ISO standards.

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt, PE, or EIT certification.

Work Environment

  • Primarily onsite in office, manufacturing, and construction environments.

  • Occasional off-hours support may be required for project activities, shutdowns, commissioning, or startup.
