Full job description
Job Summary:
Division of Internal Adult Medicine (Primary Care) Assists physician in all aspects of patient care, including examining patients, compiling medical data, administering or ordering diagnostic tests, and interpreting test results, referring unusual findings to the supervising physician.
Performs therapeutic duties such as injections, wound care, immunizations and managing infection. May make diagnoses, dispense medication, and assist physicians in surgical procedures.
PATIENT CARE MANAGEMENT Assist Physicians in providing care and continuity of service to patients within his or her specialty by:

Performing a health status assessment of the patient which includes a health history, a physical examination, and a systematic recording of the data.

Initiating and/or performing selected procedures and laboratory examinations for diagnostic screening and referral purposes.

Discriminating between normal and abnormal findings and making appropriate referrals to the physician for evaluation and/or supervision.

Initiating appropriate treatment modalities in prescribing medications, assistive devices and other equipment.

Teaching, counseling and assisting the patient and family in meeting health needs, making referrals to other health professionals and agencies as required.

Participates in diagnostic testing to the extend allowed within their scope of practice.
TEACHING AND STAFF DEVELOPMENT

Acts as a consultant to nursing staff and when appropriate participates in in-service training for the staff and in the community if needed.

Assists in clinical orientation of students or staff to the routines and policies utilized in patient management.

Selects and provides resource materials for nursing staff.
Minimum Qualifications:
NYS licensed/registered NP or PA required (NYS NP specialty area of certification must be consistent with practice). Must have NPI number and be Medicare Enrolled with Medicare Identification Number (or PTAN) OR be eligible for Medicare Enrollment (eligibility criteria for NP requires National Certification through AANP or ANCC, and Master's Degree) (eligibility criteria for PA requires graduation from an accredited PA program and National Certification through NCCPA). Initial certification must be present at time of hire. Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross is required.

Please note the salary information shown is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as internal equity, market and business considerations. The salary range depicted is based on full time, 1.0 FTE and would be prorated accordingly for less than 1.0 FTE.
