GIS Cloud Solutions Architect

Summary

This is an opportunity for an experienced cloud technology professional to shape complex GIS environments and help organizations modernize critical enterprise platforms. You'll combine hands-on architecture with customer consulting, designing secure, scalable cloud solutions while helping teams make informed decisions about modernization, migration, resiliency, and cost.

The role offers significant ownership and visibility, with opportunities to influence technical strategy, support major solution pursuits, and guide projects from early-stage discovery through implementation. It is especially well suited to someone who enjoys solving difficult infrastructure problems and translating technical decisions into clear business value.

About the Opportunity

Join a technology consulting organization delivering sophisticated GIS and cloud solutions for organizations with complex, business-critical technology environments.

You'll work alongside architects, consultants, delivery teams, and business development professionals on engagements ranging from cloud strategy and road mapping to architecture, migration, implementation, optimization, and managed services.

This is a senior individual-contributor position with broad technical influence. You'll have the opportunity to serve as a trusted advisor to customers, mentor colleagues, develop reusable architecture practices, and help shape emerging cloud capabilities.

What You'll Do

Cloud Architecture & Modernization

Take ownership of architecture decisions for enterprise GIS solutions across cloud, hybrid, and traditional environments.

Design scalable, secure, resilient cloud architectures supporting enterprise GIS workloads.

Help organizations modernize existing platforms and migrate applications, databases, and infrastructure to the cloud.

Develop architecture approaches covering compute, networking, storage, databases, identity, security, integration, availability, and disaster recovery.

Identify architectural risks and single points of failure, then recommend practical approaches to improve reliability.

Evaluate virtual machine, container, and cloud-native deployment approaches based on customer requirements.

GIS & Platform Engineering

Provide deep technical guidance throughout solution design and delivery.

Architect environments supporting enterprise GIS applications, services, databases, and integrations.

Translate business and technical requirements into high-level architectures and implementation-ready designs.

Guide sizing, configuration, performance tuning, scalability, monitoring, and capacity planning.

Support containerized and Kubernetes-based environments where appropriate.

Design architectures capable of supporting demanding workloads, including specialized compute and GPU-enabled use cases.

Customer Strategy & Consulting

Serve as a technical advisor who can move comfortably between architecture discussions and business conversations.

Lead discovery, architecture, and technology road-mapping sessions with customers.

Help stakeholders evaluate cloud migration strategies, operating models, security considerations, and modernization priorities.

Explain complicated architecture concepts clearly to both technical and business audiences.

Develop recommendations that balance performance, resiliency, security, operational complexity, and cost.

Turn technical findings into architecture diagrams, design documentation, implementation guidance, and executive-ready recommendations.

Solution Development & Pre-Sales

Help turn customer challenges into practical, deliverable solutions.

Partner with sales and consulting teams to develop technical approaches for new opportunities.

Review customer requirements and procurement documentation to identify viable cloud solutions.

Contribute architecture, scope, effort estimates, schedules, and technical content for proposals.

Develop cloud consumption and budgetary estimates to help customers evaluate business cases and return on investment.

Advise on architecture choices for high availability, disaster recovery, multi-zone, and multi-region environments.

Technical Leadership

Raise the quality and consistency of cloud architecture across the organization.

Provide architecture guidance to engineering, implementation, quality, training, and managed-services teams.

Establish practical patterns for cloud security, monitoring, automation, reliability, and operational readiness.

Review technical deliverables and designs for quality and alignment with customer needs.

Mentor colleagues developing expertise in cloud and GIS technologies.

Contribute to presentations, technical content, and other thought-leadership activities.Beacon Hill is an equal opportunity employer and individuals with disabilities and/or protected veterans are encouraged to apply.
